On my fresh '72 U code Supreme, I want to get it driveable before I start restoring it, just to make sure the single track works you know.
It starts right up now & sounds ok, but I was a bit worried about only having 2 lug nuts on the right front. Also, the brake pedal went to the floor & after refilling it with fluid, it seemed to be leaking out the back of it. I swapped it with one I had laying around that doesn't leak. So I pull the tire & caliper bolts only to discover that the caliper is locked up solid onto the rotor. I tired to remove the bleeder valve to determine weather it's the caliper or hose and of course it's seized up. So out came the torch & some candle wax & even that did not get it to break loose. Of course I ended up breaking the bleeder off so I grabbed a used caliper & rotor
(4 studs are better than 2 right?)from one of my parts cars. I had to use a 3 foot pry bar to get the original caliper off the rotor & then reinstalled the used parts, but did not get any fluid to come out the bleeder. So I have about 3% braking ability, but still decided to limp it around the block to feel it out. The tires are wobbly, but the trans. seemed to shift just fine. I'll need to improve the brake system a bit before doing any serious driving in it, but I did confirm that it breaks the right rear loose real easily.
Also checking some of the options out & found the rear defog seems to be working, yeah!

I drove my car into work today 60 mile roundtrip. I havent been able to drive it for the last 2 months because the timing chain needed replacement plus the MAWs so it was a real pleasure to take it in....even if I was driving to work

I have been out of town so my project has been on hold however I am back for a bit & this evening I disassembled the top end of my 400 CI out of my 69 442. Any one interested please send me a PM....I have C heads, intake, lifters, pushrods, cam, timing chain...the car was running perfect before disassembly. I just wanted to treat myself to a new top end...everything is clean clean clean...

work work work.....

Now that she's all legal for the street and is into first hundred miles after rebuild I will change the oil again, make some adjustments on the carb and check out a few things. I have painted a set of SS 3 15 inch wheels and put them on the car. The 14's have gone up in the rafters with the original 2 barrel intake with carb still attached and the original distributor while I decide whether to keep these items or see if anyone would be interested in purchasing them. Next on the list is figuring out how to bypass voltage regulator and installing the one wire alternator I bought.

Are you putting in a one piece trunk, oldstata, or a 3 piece? Drilling out the welds for a full trunk pan has GOT to be one of the nastier restorations jobs. BTDT Installing is soo much easier!

It's a three piece set with the two mounts and gas tank strap support .

Lucky I have a few friends in at the shop that do body work .he saw me drilling and gave me a drill bit for welds it only took me about 30 min for the left side and got three done on the right side . Tomorrow I hope to cut top and bottom with the plasma cutter . Once this is done I believe I have a few more around where the pan and wheel wells meet. I am most likely going to spot weld again in the same spots but plan to use the fusion glue for top and bottom sections

If any one needs middle section with okay gas tank straps support might be a option to take my old one body mounts shot and was hit on left side is the main reason for replacement

I had driven about 50 miles at 80 MPH, at which point I arrived at the town of my destination. At the first intersection I get to, I hear a hiss. Turned off the radio, it was still there. Oh crap. No warning lights, but a million things could still be going wrong.

Pulled in at a gas station, popped the hood - the heater inlet hose had sprung a leak just above the intake manifold nipple, and coolant was pouring down the back of the engine and the bellhousing, onto the ground.

Shut off the car, left the hood open, waited for the water to steam off. Spent the time rummaging through my trunk to find gloves and a knife - the latter was nowhere to be found, so I had to go borrow one from the station attendant, and buy 2.5 L of coolant.

Once I came back, the hose was cool enough to pry off, trim, and reattach. At that point I poured 1 L of coolant and 1 L of water into the rad. Not enough. Kept pouring until I'd added 5.5 L of fluid, at which point it was at the very top of the radiator - engine being hot, I figured that was sensible.

Drove her the last 25 miles home, no incidents.

So, how hot does the car need to be for the HOT warning light to come on?

Gutted my interior today just have head liner, front seat and carpet left . Then I need to pull windows been putting this off. Still need to make a few cuts in the trunk so I can button it up also. Not sure if I should finish installing trunk before I move to quarter patch work thinking it might let me have extra room to shape things with it out ?

I was cruising along. Nice straight back road trying to avoid traffic. 55 zone do in about 50 cause still getting reacquainted you know. Taking it easy but not too much. Guy coming from opposite direction just turns left 20 or thirty yards in front of me. I locked her down but was way too late. Nothing I could do. Says he never saw me and admitted to law enforcement that he was " distracted" and he got a ticket for failure to yield. I got a pat on the back from the sheriff and a bunch of man that sucks and had to call my wife to come pick me up. Nobody even called an ambulance. I hit his Hyundai so hard I spun it 180 degrees. You know this guy don't give a damn about cars. Hell just go buy another pos tomorrow. While I just flushed 5 years of work and about 5 grand down the toilet. Nice huh?

Well not today but this is what I did last weekend. And before you all get excited no it's not really a H/O it was just cloned as one years ago. This is a car I've had since high school ('95) and has been sitting in my Dad's barn fo some time. I went and picked it up and got right to work. It will no longer be a H/O clone. I did do something with an Olds today though. I drove my '68 to work.

My lift is a Rotary. New they go for about $3500 but I picked this one up used from a service station that went out of business for $900. It didn't look like this when I got it though. I have some time in refinishing it. It needs about 11-1/2 to 12 feet of ceiling height but they make them for shorter ceilings as well. You can buy cheap lifts from China for $1500 new but when dealing with a tool that holds thousands of pounds over your head I wouldn't go that route myself. I have seen a few of the major brands (Rotary, Bend-Pak, Challenger etc.) pop up on Craigslist from time to time for close to what I paid.

I've got a Rotary and 3 Weavers, left over from my shop years ago, but recently I've been buying Direct Lifts. They have been EXCELLENT and you can get a side by side in either conventional or A symetric for about 15 or 16 hundred bucks and they'll ship in the U.S. for about 2 or 3 hundred. (haven't checked in over a year) They're really hard to beat for the money. I've bought and helped install 3 of 'em now for myself and friends and we've never had an issue with the lifts or the company. I think it's DirectLift.com or if that's not it just google Direct Lift.

His fault, his insurance pays for everything. Lawyer up and take him to the cleaners. You are not required to accept what his insurance offers as payment.
