Finally got back in the garage and bolted up the transmission mount, torque converter to the flexplate and headers. Beers started kickin in and I was done for the day! I'll get back to it next week.

That's the sh*t that goes on. Why do you think 6 month restorations turn into 2 year restos? Because they give you patience! What's that song? "Beer Is Good For You".

Pulled steering wheel just to tighten the turn signal lever, removed starter and replaced with high torque mini starter, changed the oil, and tightened valve covers. Heat and humidity were tough all day...

Restored the Dash

Restored the Dash, almost still have to buy that 200 dollar applique and put it back together. Dash survived the desert sun and the Florida sun and humidity and 44years I am happy with the way it turned out and thanks goes to Dean Franco and Tony Bonafide for the help without them I would have not been able to get it looking as good!

Thanks to a friend who welded these up for me today. 2 1/4 inch pipes and Thrush turbos. They will go on tomorrow. Temporarily gonna have downspouts at rear axle while I save up for tailpipes. Will post up another video of how she sounds tomorrow! Can't wait!

I finished the 4 spd today, debating on taking the shifter to a chrome shop and having rechromed. Probabley will have to take out a loan to afford it thanks to the EPA!

65 330 break-in this afternoon. Shes sounding awesome with that new cam but overheating a bit. A little more break-in tomorrow. Hoping the overheating issue will go away after a little time!

Oil change! Minimal spills, dropped the plug but had a spare ready, and the filter came off with minimal fighting, despite the presence of headers.

But when I went to pour the oil into the empty jug, I nearly blew an a-ring. What was this stuff?!

Oh crap, am I looking at an engine rebuild? This is my daily driver and only car, that's just not feasible. How does anything inside the engine even rust?!

Wait a minute.

My headers are rusty, and the paint comes off in big flakes, like these. Whew. Crisis averted. Now, where are my clean underwear?

started the 57 last night to go to a car meet and heard a exhaust leak. One bolt sheared off on the passenger side manifold to header pipe flange. Broke flush with the flange. Oh boy this is going to be a fun fix today. Hope I don't have to pull the manifold, chances are I will have to though.

Restored red fenderwells

Had a hard time getting the white and faded places to clean up and restore the color to the red fender wells, Thanks to Greg Godon with his recommendation to use a heat gun carefully and it works!!! They are not perfect but they look better!

Well today I did two things. I pulled the ex. Manifold off my saturn to unclog the secondary air system ports on my saturn started that at 8 am. And got done around lunch with driving around for parts. Then I came home from my dads shop had a bite and a beer then fixed the leaky trans pan seal on the copper car. Hopefully tommorow I can top her off and drive her so wed. I can take it to the cruisenight here on wed. Which should be fun since they close the whole downtown area for cruisers to cruise and park. All in all I was done before 4 pm. Pretty productive day now time to finish my 55 gal. Drumm bbq. Grill

Well I finally can add something here that is worth mentioning.
I got Lady out this afternoon, washed her up and took her to the local car show - "Turning back time" in Murphy.

Lady ended up as "class winner" in convertible class. I actually tied with a low-miles '87 Allante. First place went to a 66 Impala convertible - a really sweet frame off. He deserved it for sure.

Met a lot of nice people there and saw many fine cars. Came home late the long way, just enjoying the ride.

Congrats to you, Tedd! So glad you are doing better!! I knew you would!

Today was "lets find all the thumping and banging day"!
jacked it up high and started tightening everything.
Torque converter bolts were OK just a little turn out of them.
So i said whats next, so out came the trans mount bolts and up went the trans, and then out came the cross member bolts.
Bingo! Cross member isn't as long as I think it should be so I get new bolts, nuts, washers ETC. I mover it around and add bolts then let the trans back down and install those bolts and then start tightening it all.
For some reason all that eliminated about 95% of any under the car noise.
I also do what I do to every car I get, wrap a radiator hose clamp around the trans mount so it can never come apart.
Oh yea shift lever that the shifter cable connects to was falling off, fixed now park is park!
Drove to Wendys and got a double cheese burger and people were coming out of the place looking at my car while i was sitting in the drive thru line!

Replaced the jet-away with a built 350 turbo.
Had to do a little blacksmith work to the shifter rod, but good to go.
Runs a lot better with 3 forward gears and the 3.23 posi.
It ran a whole lot better when I replaced the newer R-43-S
cold *** plugs with some nos R-45-S 4 stripes.

Today I pulled off the front fenders and rad support

I just got this car Tuesday and do not know anything about it.The car came from a storage unit. I tried to turn the motor by the crank but it only spins about 3/4 of the way around before it stops dead. I am going to pull it and get it on a stand to check it out tomorrow.

Chrome!

Removed front and rear bumpers to be dropped off for replating. Never a good time to do this when you're trying to use the car. They tell us it'll be 14 weeks! Also dropped the gas tank and made some adjustments to the gauge and siphon tube so it'll not longer run out of gas when the gauge shows half a tank. That's most annoying!

I have not been able to do anything to it for almost 2 weeks. It's just been too d@#$ HOT outside (100+)!!!
As soon as it brakes, I need to work on the brakes (pun intended). I have old drums on the front that are rusted on. I am going to have to put some heat to them to knock them loose.

Pinion seal in, new brake lines on the front, bled the whole brake system, new oil pan (that was 6 hours!), waiting for new engine mount, fixed faulty wiring to indicators, found out kick down cable is nearly worn through near the pedal another surprise, after the 100 mile run she is running smoother, trying Rislone main seal repairer and the leak has slowed a little but not completely - fingers crossed on that one. Trying their blow by solution as well and that seems to be working as well, again not completely but if I can get another year or 2 out of the engine then I'll be able to afford a proper rebuild for the 455. Still not registered, waiting for front upper control arm assemblies from Fusick's and tail light assembly from Brian Trick. Bought new 6" speakers for the front on the weekend as well but didn't get them in.

Laughin'

Better too hot than too cold. Only 7 degrees Celsius in the shed today. I hate working with cold fingers.

I've done both, and I'd rather be cold than having sweat pouring down every inch of my body. Portable heaters are cheap.

Well nothing today but yesterday I called in sick, put new airshocks, new springs, new axle bushings, control arm bushings and installed the boxed control arms... Drove it around raked for a while RAKED then let most of the air out of the air shocks. just realized that I forgot to adjust the rear drum brakes.... Might have to call in sick Friday!

Had a 1 hour front brake change turn into 4.

Front drums would not come off, so I decided to apply some heat and tap 'em loose with my mini sledge. They still would not come off. Found that the drums were rusted to the lugs really...really tight (the car sat for awhile before I bought it 2 months ago). Had to remove the entire wheel assembly and hammer the lugs out. Luckily I was already planning on replacing the drums themselves and had 2 new ones in my garage. On a side note those ACDelco drums are only $28 on Amazon.

When that was done and the brakes changed. I got to repeat the whole process on the passenger side.
