Because I have a problem with not tinkering on something. Just ask my wife, lol

I mean honestly I may just go with a nice exhaust setup for a little attitude, definitley looking into electric fans for existing radiator/replacing with new one for our FL heat

You may want to try a process I did. Every year I add something to my cars. One year it may be suspension upgrades. Another year may be the interior. Unless it was needed, I wouldn't let the car be down for any length of time when I could be driving it. The risk was too much for me.

I finally got around to finishing up the extra fenders that came with my 68 442, so now I have some 3D wall art. They are painted with TCP Global Ocean Turquoise acrylic enamel and are factory punched for W36 stripes. I did borrow their red fenders wells for my 68's original fenders

Thank You, I think that's a good idea. For now I'm going to keep things simple, replacing the #8 heads with period correct #7's to bring compression back to factory, then a nice intake and headers to help the car breathe better.

And just enjoy it!

Do you know for sure it is a 71 engine with #8 heads?

Yes, to my best ability. The engine Vin matches the body vin.

In my 1979 Blue Calais, I just replaced a leaky front brake line running from the master (cylinder) to the junction block/combination valve. The other one is not leaking so that stays until it does. I'm awaiting completion of an aluminum driveshaft I'm having made; the existing one turned out to be warped and out of balance. That's also being repaired but I will hold that back as a spare, the aluminum shaft goes in first.

Coupled with that 200R4 trans from Extreme Automatics I had installed earlier this year, I'm now ready to replace the 260 with a 350. Someday.

Those look great. Can you post a pic of the paint code on the can you used?

I went to the TCP Global website and clicked on the the library button, they have paint codes listed by the cowl tag letter/#. I sprayed with a DeVilbiss 1.3 tip gun turned almost closed (a 1.0 tip might have been acceptable). I mixed at 8:1:1/2 reducer

Rear seatbelts...

Someone had wrapped a piece of old pajamas around the belt, probably in an attempt to hold it out, but whatever, neither side wanted to come out. Managed to get the driver's side to come out, but the passenger side took a little more effort on account of this being tied around the belt and it getting sucked into it. I'm happy both sides are working now.

Old pajamas, lol.

I'm putting a new rag on my 1964 ragtop...

The frame bows are in really good shape

You have to tear it apart before you can put it back together

I wish my wife looked this good topless

Worked on the brakes. Mounted the cleaned parts on my 1946 convertible.
Investigating, I found out the brake cylinders are not original. They must have been updated ca. 1955.

Over the last couple weeks I got the fiberglass reproduction rear bumper fillers painted and installed on my new / used rear bumper that I got out of Nevada. The fillers for surprisingly well and the rear end of the car is all buttoned up.

Thank you! I've owned this car since 1986, it is my first car.

-Engine- 350 Olds mild build
-Trans- TH700R4
-3:73 gears in the rear end
-Interior is a 10K mile interior out of a 1986 Cutlass Salon
-Wheels are stock 14"x6" w/ 225-70R14 Cooper Cobra GT
-Home built Stainless 2.5" Dual Exhaust w/ Pypes Turbo Pro Stainless mufflers
-All new NOS grills, headlight surrounds and badges / emblems
-All stock exterior trim work
-Garage Paint job in June 2022 and spent the time thereafter getting the car put back together which proved to be not as easy as it sounds.

These photos are from a month or two ago, it's further along now but I haven't taken photos yet. Maybe tomorrow, plan on being in the garage as much as I can to get more loose ends squared away.

Thank you! Been a long time coming, can't wait to drive it again.

Todays progress. Installed the new VDO gauges and pod, installed the grills and headlight surrounds and got the radio and stack buttoned up. Am going to go with a two-post Custom Autosound in the future bt I had the Supertuner on the shelf so it'l do for now.

Installed a new Interstate battery and identified the purchase date. Also secured wires in each battery terminal. Chris is short for Christopher's Auto Supplies, Philadelphia, PA. Hopefully living in Philly, the battery won't get stolen notwithstanding my car is stored in a secured, attended garage, for residents only .lol 😆

Write on it "Stolen From Chris". People are less likely to want to sell something with the word Stolen on it.

I like your idea. Living in Philly, I'm fortunate if they only steal my battery. Philly residents can easily take my car, or worse, my car with me in the car!! Might need Pace Car decals with the decal expressing "stolen" instead of Official Pace Car 😊

Thank you! Yup, it's a Base Coupe, no A/C and a plain hard top. I fell in love with it the minute Dad pulled it into our driveway a long time ago.

That's a really nice car. I think of what people spend on a car today and then I see this, and I think "People are stupid for what they spend on throw away cars"

I just mean that's a car worth working on- and you do. Today people spend $40K on a car they expect to dump within 10 years. The dealer will offer them little or nothing for it, and they'll accept the offer an drop another $40K on the next car they hope to keep for 6-8 years- and a shapeless generic eggshell car that looks like everything else on the road. It's got a little TV screen in the dash board that interfaces with their cell phone and an ECU that will be MD'd in less than 20 years, so when it fails the car will be nothing more than scrap metal- because without that circuit board, it won't run at all. You can't even open the windows or unlock the doors after the front control module fails because a microchip failed and no one makes it anymore.

I owned a 2004 Thunderbird and I loved it until the electronic gremlins took control, and Ford MD'd every chip and circuit board. I spent over $3000 for a junk yard FEM (front electronic module), knowing it was just as old and as likely to fail as the one that was in the car from the factory. It had failed, so why not the replacement junkyard part, too? 2004 T-Bird is really nice looking sporty car that sold for over $40K brand new- so why do they sell for under $15k today, for even a low mileage example? Because everyone knows it's a time bomb. There won't be a handful of them left 20 years from now. You can't rebuild or re-create a microchip.

Today's cars are disposable. They'll fail in ways you can't fix unless you can reverse engineer a microchip. It's all part of the plan, man... make sure you can't fix your car, then you have to buy what they sell, and they trap you into the cycle of buying overpriced cars, then offer you nothing for your trade in, and everyone gets rich except you.

Nice car, that Cutlass. You'll own it for as long as you want to keep fixing it.

I started this engine today( technically first start was Saturday but it sounded weird so I backed off until I had more time to look into it. ended up being two wires mixed up, magneto cap is new to me.) it’s the first time I’ve had a running engine in my 62 since I bought it 13 years ago.

the idea was hearing it run would give me the excitement I need to start working on it again.

You need to get something that doesn't need to be stored to drive in the winter. Something nice but not too nice. That's what I have done in the past anyway. Although creature comforts in the dead of winter sure are nice.
