Let it down off the stands to see what the tall ball joints did. Nailed it!

What headers do you have? As far as I know, ARH are the only ones making 64-67 small block headers.

I had mondello make a set of long tube stainless ceramic coated headers. So far the right side is in but we have to put a quarter sized dent in one of the tubes so it doesn't rattle on frame (you won't see it). The other side is the challenge. The proportioning valve has to be relocated, shorter oil filter(or relocate it), Trans lines have to be re routed and I think that's it. We will see

Which "Mondello" are you referring to ?

Oh, I get it: you are expecting an aftermarket part to actually fit! Good luck with that. I beat the crap out of the Hookers to clear the steering shaft and frame, and I don't even have the factory distribution block/shuttle valve.

Lynn (NOT Lee )mondello, oldsmobile guru. Mondello performance in California. He told me that these are the only ones that fit with minor modifications.

Bernard Mondello Racing Engines in Corona, CA is the real guru. The Paso Robles outfit is riding the coattails of a legend.

Well, I don't know either personally but Lynn Mondello was very helpful the 3 or 4 times I spoke with him on the phone. He even offered to walk me through the installation on the phone when I was doing them, day or night. Of course, I won't because I'm stubborn but it was refreshing to talk to a 50 year olds guy committed to his products.

Pretty sure Lynn's last name is Welfringer, not Mondello.

Yup, but I am not going to convince someone who is stubborn and talked to a "50 year Olds guy committed to his products".

Picked up the driveshaft from A-1, and installed the tube sender in the Tanks Inc. The yoke was twisted, and I'm afraid the output shaft is too. It still won't slide in easily when installing the cap girdles on the rear. I think I need to upgrade the trans to the 32 spline next year. I already have the yoke for the 1350s on the shelf. I have no idea why I went 27 last time. You are the weakest link; good bye! Hopefully, it makes it through Drag Week. On the plus side, the gas gauge works correctly, now.

Alignment today.... the driver's side was way out of whack: +1⁰ camber and only 1.25⁰ caster. I laid a line parallel to the frame with a laser, then used a FasTrax gauge. The shim stack was pretty gnarly, so I cut some spacers out of black pipe. I set it to -5⁰ camber and 3.5⁰ caster. It's manual steering; I didn't want to get too crazy.

I like the black pipe idea, I have a stack of spacers as well and it looks a little "Rube Goldberg"

Got the interior "done" last night. The ProCar seat brackets are too tall and need to be shortened. The steering wheel is off again, but that should be a fairly easy fix. I went a little crazy and got the Fusick mats; they definitely look better than those flame jokers.
Also converted the linkage to a Lokar cable because my linkage mysteriously got shorter to the point it was idling at 2500. Popped the rod off and it dropped. This has been an ongoing problem, and I can't have that crap on Drag Week.

Sorry for the blurry speaker shot

The FasTrax gauge is about $180. The hardest part is getting the line on the floor, parallel to the frame. You need plates to set the toe, or that's all most shops do. It does track hands free straight, now though.

I made some cupholders from an old AC drier. Not my idea, but I forget who to give credit. Oh, and new seat belts...

I'll be driving it around quite a bit, so I didn't want to go too crazy but wanted something fun and as close to bulletproof as I could get.

Pretty much the 'normal' 496 that BTR builds, just with his smaller cam and older RPM heads.
CP Bullet Pistons
Mild Comp Hydraulic Roller Cam
Older (~2005) Performer RPM heads with a bit of work on them
RPM Airgap Intake
Holley 830cfm

I'll find and update my build thread for the car it's going into with more details here soon.

Whatever his last name is, who cares. The guy I talked to at mondello was very helpful. How's that. You guys must be bored ...lol. anyway, the headers are in along with the robbmc starter. Had to move some Trans lines and the prop valve. All that is left is hooking the collectors to the dual exhaust...

Go ahead and spend your money with Lynn. Being a smart *** sure as hell won't get you any help on here. Maybe you lucked out with your headers but keep going with Lynn and you will get burned. I have never dealt with him but have read lots of threads on here about what a crook he is. Guys on here just tried to warn you.

Found a Derale electric fan kit that pulls some serious air that can fit (sideways) on my radiator. Got that all set up today and hobbled together some homemade bracketry. I'll need to do something with the fan shroud's little speed flaps, or whatever they call them, now that its mounted sideways but that should be easy to sort out.

You could remount the flaps so the hinges are at the "top".

During the Labor Day weekend, I installed the sport mirrors on my 70 post coupe. This is the passenger side. I had to remove the vent window just to get to the nuts. It was a tight fit.

Here’s the driver’s side. At least I didn’t have to remove the vent window but the only problem I had was installing the support plate thru the remote mirror cables and trying to get the nut started onto the mirror studs. The plate keeps on falling down the cables.

I had to make sure that the vent window doesn’t hit the mirror so drilling holes has to be perfect.

I didn’t had to drill holes on the driver side because I used the existing holes and the vent window barely hits the mirror but the holes already has a slot so you can adjust it how you like it.

Now I can see what’s on the right side now. What a big difference.

The mirror itself is smaller than the chrome type. I need to get use to it.

I didn’t realize how sharp it is inside the door panel. This happened while I was installing the driver side. These paper cuts is very irritating. It’s going to burn once I apply some iodine.

Thanks. I went crazy looking for a auto spray paint company who can make the right mixture for my Sherwood Green. I tried 66 Auto Color, Paint Scratch and Express Paint. So far Express Paint is almost close but no cigars. I missed Tower Paint because they made the perfect match for my paint but unfortunately that company was bought out by someone else. Does anybody out there knows a good company that makes out from a spray can? Please share. Thanks.
