I remember seeing them in cars after the gas shortage of 73-74? so folks would be more aware of gas consumption. I'm surprised to see it back in 66

I couldn't say for sure but I think they were a 66 only option. 64s and 5s had could get a tach on the console.

Phoenix8990 - Thank you very much! The wheels are "REV" brand, 17", polished aluminum. I am running Continental 235/55R/17's on all four corners. I have complete clearance on the front lock to lock, but need to be a little careful not to hit any bumps too hard if I have it cocked completely in either direction.

The REV wheels are 8" width. I have a "like new" set of repro 15"x8" SS1's I keep thinking I'm going to put on the car, but the REV wheels get so many compliments at shows/cruise-ins it's been hard for me to pull the trigger and swap them out. Thought the SS1's might get me a few more points for originality with judges since the car is about 97% original anyway. I was lucky, both sets came with the car at sale, with the REV's being on the car when I purchased it in the Fall of 2019.

Finally got around to putting new sleeves in the sunvisor holder. The darn things kept dropping down in my line of sight on every little bump. Now they adjust like originally designed. Such an easy fix, but with a great quality of life improvement...

Did you see the two mouse holes I plugged in bottom lip? That got ugly! Didn't cut them out. Just started to weld up so thin they got bigger but I finally got them welded.

Can any of you darksiders tell the difference between this linkage , and the usual 394 linkage ?

Changed out my fuel pump

Igot 10 feet out of the garage ( note the kitty litter trail in front of the car) and smelled fuel. Pump was leaking out the weep hole ( i assume ripped diaphragm ). I checked 3 local auto parts stores none had one in stock. I had an unknown quantity one in a box. I dug it out and put it on and its good to go. Its got the return line fitting ( i dont have the return line) so i just blocked it off.

Pulled the gas tank out of my Vista last night

Had a leak, and sucked up some crud when I ran it too low.
Taking it to a radiator shop that says they can repair it and pressure test it.
It appears it's been repaired before, although pretty badly.
Is it bad that I can hear stuff sliding around inside?
Soaking the sending unit ring in PB blaster for a day or so before trying to remove it.

While out on a drive this past Friday, I noticed smoke billowing out from behind of my '72 Supreme...as well as the interior getting rather smoky (and no, it wasn't after a burnout..lol) After a quick peek at the oil pressure gauge and verifying my oil pressure was good, I held it easy until I could pull over and take a look. A quick look revealed a steady stream of tranny fluid pouring out near the front crossmember. I suspected the header had worn/melted a hole in the cooler line...had it towed home.

After spending the weekend at my father-in-law's, I got to it today. SE VA 90 deg heat or not, I was determined. After removing the line, my suspicion proved correct. So, after 2 1/2 hours (including a short break in the A/C, my new lines are installed and I'll be adding fluid and checking for leaks tomorrow. 6 am is my planned start time in an effort to beat the heat (and have it wrapped up before I leave for work), and a planned test drive is in the plans as well...fingers crossed!

What better way to cool off on a hot SE VA Friday night than to cruise to the local DQ for an ice cream?

Todays Project

I could use a cone dipped in chocolate about now. I've been recovering a bench seat I have. The PUI video has been very helpful. I'm hoping the seat backs go as well. Steve

Very happy with the results

Dfire,
Just a quick question but I think I might already know the answer. I know the Trunk access panel is not stock. Did you do that for more easier access to the Gas tank sender unit? Or is it there for another reason.

I installed new felts on my DS door, adjusted the glass, and realized there was no rear stop in the tracks so I made one. Success!

Tightened the passenger side header bolts and significantly reduced the noise I thought was a bad lifter. I was surprised how much off the line performance increased. It was nice to confirm it is an exhaust issue and not an internal engine problem. Couldn't reach the rear bolt from above and I have no idea how to completely fix the problem. Will need to find a good exhaust shop to change the gasket.

I can only get to the rear header bolt on my 455 from underneath. I have to snake my arm up between the header tubes and use a wrench. Ratcheting wrench is nice right about now. LOL.
