Door panels make an interesting wall hanging, but I prefer them on the door of the car, to a wall They look great. It is amazing what a few pieces can to to the overall look!

Topped off the ATF in the TH400 in my 67 442. I also detailed the interior and exterior prepping for a show tomorrow. There haven't been many this summer around St. Louis, so I wanted her looking her best!

The bad news , The fuel line from pump to carb is leaking .

Sir, per your request, I just posted several pics of the car show under the "General" Forum / Clubhouse / "The *New* Good Morning Thread!". Hope you can find them and enjoy! FYI, the last two pics are of my 1967 442.

Cleaned and detailed my 67 442 after having it out to a show this past Sunday. See the post above for some pics of the show if you're interested. Getting her ready for a couple cruise nights coming up this Friday and Saturday. Sorry guys, don't mean to rub it in about the shows/cruises, we are just now starting to have a few around us in the St. Louis area.

Today was the day to lay under the El Camino with Olds power and look for nuts and bolts that didn't get tightened down correctly. I actually found a few, and one was one of the flexplate bolts. That would have been a nightmare if it actually worked free later!. So I got out the flywheel turner and gave it a 360 to be sure the rest of them were tight. The one was only finger tight. The rest were on snug! I tried so hard to double check every torqued bolt, but when this was on the stand I was having fun trying to torque them while the engine teetered and spun while I did. Anyway, no harm no foul. I am certain the mains and rods were correct, and before this the heads, intake and exhaust manifolds were double checked. The flexplate cover is now is now installed. The distributor is in and pre-timed, about 12 degrees BTDC. There is oil pressure!

Water is in and has not lost a drop in over a month, One more check of the ancillary nuts and bolts and it for the belt driven things and carb, and it is time to get the battery off the tender ad see what electricals work and finally the starter.....some gas in the carb....and noise and smoke....Tomorrow is the day!

Ordered a few pieces from Fusick's (correct upper radiator hose, key blanks, wiring clips on the fender, door courtesy lamp lens) and a part from Oldspackrat (heater / ac blower resistor).

Sure sign of Fall. My heater control valve doesn't work so I installed a shut off valve years ago so I could run my factory AC in the summer. Today was the day to open the valve to let in the heat for the rest of the cruising season.

Reminds me of a Tom Rush Song- Urge for Going.

About the same thing here in Florida .
Most of our cruises run 52 weekends a year ,but are sparsely populated in June ,July , and August .
Car show season starts in October and runs until April .
The rest of the time it is just too hot to sit in a lawn chair all day ( 90 + degrees ) .

Folks - I apologize in advance for this happening yesterday, but if you're starving for some car show pics check this out. I had my 67' 442 in a show yesterday and she held her own placing 3rd in a strong field of 60's and early 70's American Muscle. You can check out some pics of my car and some of the other nicer entrants by scrolling up to my post #31895 at the following link:

Enjoy!

Taking it to a local shop today. It's so close to being drive-ready, just in time for winter.

The engine is broken in, seems to be running cooler now. Letting a shop do the conversion from drums to discs in the front now. Once that is done, all the "big" items are checked off, and its just some final touches before being ready to really take out.

This thread got lost.

I had replaced the rust colored water in the H/O back in October, but hadn't recalled if I ran the heat the last time after the flushes when I had put the antifreeze in, so I got my install of the Fusick's repro overflow bottle kit mostly done so I could start the car with it there. I had decided I wanted bolts and nylocks instead of sheet metal screws, and I wanted to paint the bracket black, so I had done all that, and got all five in, 3 tight, and I need to get an allen key socket to get the other two done. Not impressed with the spring clamps, nor the radiator cap that has the "align this with the overflow" stripe on a disc that can spin riveted to the top, making that line precisely useless. Went with the old cap as I had a ghetto overflow bottle there from previous owner.

Dicked around with the too-long-so-they-put-a-nut-on-it negative terminal bolt and made something work to get battery online again. Cranked and noticed I have the extra "turn the light on" temp wire that pegs the ralley pack that is now in there that I should remove like someone did here recently. Fired it up, ran the heat, wiggled it back and forth, ran the AC, got the steam out of the pipes, then shut it down.

This car looks great and runs like the proverbial scalded dog, but there are a lot of little things needing help.

Oh my goodness I Love old school paint like this!! Is there a post somewhere that I can see more?

When I was a kid there was a factory 70 W-30 that was repainted a heavy black metal flake and covered in pinstripes. Pinstripes outlined a naked woman on the trunk lid. Sat for years in an apartment parking lot.

I LOOKED at it today when I was at grandma's house. Once we sell the place, I need to move it to Evansville and finally work on it. Picture is for laughs, I moved the car from great aunt's house (to prepare to sell that property), then buried the poor thing in STUFF from that house. That was in late 18 and early 19. In later 19, I sold most everything left from both houses at auction, so now grandma's house is almost empty, and, although the Olds hasn't moved, all the stuff did, so the car is now accessible. Looked very carefully for any sort of "fallen under the dash" paperwork, but the glovebox liner is gone, so all I found today was 7 pennies and a comb.

Applied a little trick I learned last night on the interwebs.. the coat hanger makes it a lot easier to shape and hold a small patch to be welded in place

The trunk masking was an old bedsheet and an electrical cord .
Worked perfect .
The doors will be installed later .
They will be aligned with wedges and hinges tightened from inside with the door closed .

Just a hats off !! I see these post and admire the people who have the know how and the patience for these restorations !!
I have the mechanical skills for some of it, but no welding skills, age is taking some of the physical requirements and patience !
I love my Olds to death but I think I could love it more If I could stand back and say I did all of that !! that must be so fulfilling.
Again hats off to everyone of you, keep up the great work !!!!

I thought the 2004R was suppose to be better? Did you have issues or what would be the reason?
