What happened to the ROP site?

I really appreciate the state of Texas, in many ways they continue to represent ideals lost in many other parts of the country.
That being said, seemingly another Texan attempting to thwart comments against two of their own?

Do you know how stupid you sound? Did you join this sight just to cry about the OCA. Texas is a big place and to just go and assume everyone in the state is protecting someone you seem to have a problem with is asinine.

As a moderator maybe you shouldnt call people stupid!

What I said has nothing to do with being a Texan. I don't belong to OCA and I don't know either of the people you are referring to. I think Richard's comments were right on. This thread has deteriorated to the point that it serves no purpose other than to get a lot of people pissed at each other. Besides this thread is about ROP and there is still another thread about OCA.

Nah, Stu wasn't dumb. There wasn't a poorly developed character in that book and I can't think of anyone who could have played Stu better than Gary Sinise, or Randall Flagg better than Jamey Sheridan. Plus Sinise is a genuinely good guy- he brought the Lt. Dan Band here a while back to play a benefit for a couple of wounded warriors.
Though looking back it's scary how many parallels this OCA mess has drawn to the themes in that novel.

I think it will suck big time if the old threads are lost. There was a TON of great info as long as you could wade through all the BS arguments and political posts that seemed to take ROP over the last couple years. I've been a member there for at least 6-7 years and learned a lot...
The archives of old threads is a big part of the value of that site.

I actually found ROP before Classic Olds but was never able to join that site. I tried on numerous times but could never get an administrator over there to help me.
As time as gone by, I am glad I did not join there and that I ended up here instead. As a lurker on ROP, I have found value in some of the posts but I have no interest in dealing with people's BS. We're all here because we love Oldsmobiles, want to share that passion and to help each other keep our rides on the road. Peace out!

You seem to be one very negative person. Those who you refer to as trash, I refer to as a Gold Mine. The wealth of knowledge over at ROP is extremely helpful and worth its weight in Gold.
You can trash on a site or their members all you want but it puts you down to the same level.

Day-um, Man.....
I remember when you were on ROP regularly. I thought you were witty and I dug your screen name.
What changes have you been put through?
Wasn't that you, that had sold some one a car, for a pretty penny, and the buyer had engine trouble soon after, spurring a publicly aired dispute (on ROP)?
You took alot of heat for that (if that was indeed you). Is that the root of your bitterness?

I will also add that over here people have given me unsolicited feedback about what is "wrong" with my car (in their eyes) when I didn't ask for it, want it or assign any value to it. That annoys me.
When I put up a post asking if my car has S grilles or '71 mirrors please feel free to respond that it does. Otherwise, I don't give a shyt.
The one old guy on ROP (Nickolds?) that never used punctuation did that too. Annoying as shyt.

I have 442 grilles in my Cutlass. Let 'em criticize.

Like stated previously, ROP is more performance/drag racing oriented IMO. I spend more time here than there because of this (I'm a numbers/paint daub guy) but I think it's good having both sites to cover the whole spectrum of Oldsmobilia. Any update on if and/or when they will be 'up' again?

I am a member of lots of other forums, ROP included. That said every site has their own rules and some are un-moderated and some are more family orientated. I view Classic Olds as one of the best family oriented and informative on the web and I'd like to keep it that way. But like Richard said 98% of them are more than welcome to come and talk racing or just Oldsmobiles in general
