1970 Cutlass S with some modifications. Far as I recall, the Cutlass S should have a double hump hood, I believe this one is an F-85 hood. Supremes I believe should have had a chrome piece running down the middle. If I'm wrong, someone surely will correct me on that.

The VIN posted in the ad (3368702132406) clearly shows that the car is a Cutlass S Holiday Coupe (33687). Note that there is a typo in that VIN, as the seventh character should be the letter "Z" (for the Fremont, CA assembly plant) and not the number "2". Note also that this car has the incorrect flat hood from a Supreme, four door, or wagon, which suggests that the front end may have been replaced with wrecking yard parts after a collision. All Cutlass S two door cars left the factory with a "double hump" hood in the 1970 model year.

This question is meant for Joe, but anyone can chime in. I've never seen a "single hump" hood before. Over the years I've worked on Cutlass S, Supremes & Vista Cruisers, mostly '71 & '72 models; never seen a hood like that. Is this hood unique to '69-'70 model years? Thanks.

There were more "single hump" than "double hump" made. Every Supreme, F85, more door, and wagon made in 69 and 70 came from the factory with the single hump hood. Of course now they all have repro W25 hoods.

Just curious, was that a special-order color? I remember my dad had a 1969 Cadillac with a very similar, almost identical color, it was called Wisteria. It looks great on this car but if the color was not available even as a special order I would think that makes it a custom and down goes the value (?)

That car has been repainted. The cowl tag would tell you if the car was special order paint, but it typically won't tell you which color. Olds had RPO codes that allowed one to order ANY color paint as special order.

Not to call it out but just noticing how un-PC the first advertisement image would be now (Lawrence of Arabia), I myself don't care a bit, doesn't bother me.

In any case, these were supposed to be recreations of classic movie scenes.

Looks like #8 heads which would be from a 1973-1976 Olds 350 engine.

I'd want to see the color code on the data plate.

Looks like 70 Toronado-only Flamingo Silver or Cadillac Amethyst Firemist.

Looks more like a #6 no? It looks like an Olds 350... probably a '70. Can you get the casting #'s next to the oil fill tube behind the water pump.

Good luck!!!

Link didn't come through. Definitely purple. The color would look better on a Toronado.

The hood isn't original - that's the flat hood used on F85s, Supremes, more-doors, and wagons. It's been repainted. The "rare color" claim is BS. The cowl tag shows that the original color was paint code 63, Copper poly, with a black vinyl top.

True, there were some pretty wild colors used by Detroit back in the day though.

I fixed your Ebay link, are you the new owner? This is the color of my car when I found it. It does not get better in real life or over time.

The color in the Ebay ad is closer to a Pontiac color.

The color on the ebay car looks like Code 76 Regency Rose Poly, a Toro-only color for the 1970 model year. As shown on the car's data plate, that's not the color it was painted from the factory.

Amen. I so agree. I don't get the dislike for pinks purples etc. To each their own though. I have told this story before but there was a 70 GS 455 at a storage lot near my house that was factory pink. White interior and top. I think the color was called pink lemonade or something like that. One of my brother's had a 70 340 4 speed Duster that was factory purple. I dig the old bold colors.

That's a correct 6 head for a 1970 Olds.

I merged all 3 of the threads, as Joe stated there is no reason to start multiple threads for the same car. I wonder if the OP bought for $11k?

Are those 71-72 crinkle fenders on there? Looks like the fenderwell bolts were painted that Nail-Salon purple as well. Suspect it got mangled up front, hence the "flat" hood and different fenders.

I enlarged the image but it got pixellated so I couldn't tell if it was a 6 or an 8.
