Because I did not want another 85 Cadillac Seville with the hit or miss junk HT 4.1 Engine. After looking for a clean low miles Toronado XSC with Olds engine. Found two, but needed too much work.
I found this beauty with a 350 SBO 1980 Seville. Super nice! New paint and upholstery. Rare Eldorado & Seville Aluminum wheels. Front bumper needs to be mount better. But this is the one. Two tone Western Saddle Firemist and Saxony Red(I think).
Love them, hate them. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Bustlebacks are beautiful! I like girls with a big rear. Its must be the Italian in me. Working on getting her home.
Love the Seville ride. It just floats over anything on the road. And I can get 5 bodies into the trunk.
Clean low miles two owners.

I was working as a painter when these came out. I remember a Diesel version as well. The lady of the house had one of these. Gray/silver? The main thing I remember was the fact all she did was work out. Yeah, she was keeping business at home. We all knew the engine combo was for ****. I think it was the 4/6/8 thingamabob. Had that funky emblem on it.
Nice pick up by you. I really like big cars. The ride is what sells it.

The most comfortable ride I have ever experienced in a car, and I have owned both a 1971 and 1979 Eldorado.
A family member had a 85 with the 4.1 but was one of the lucky ones, no issues.
You were lucky to find a gas Olds 350 version for 1980. Likely one of the few times a California version of anything was the most powerful available since... Never realized how incredibly heavy this generation of Seville was. Luxury on steroids. Car and Driver captured it from its best angle.

24k in 1980 (3 times the average new car price at the time) and it looked worth every cent of it.
Best of luck with her.
Thank you. This will be my cross-county car. She needs a few things to make perfect. Tires, door seals, fix the ride leveling control, clean the seat belts. Update the radio. Front bumper. All my 85 Sevilles and the one 85 White Eldo Biarritz with the 4.1. Were the best year for that engine. But a nightmare to work on. Eldo was a lemon. Can not help showing off my baby!
One of my brothers got a 84 Black Eldo Biarritz the other 84 Seville. I believe the most expensive US cars you could buy at the time. The same year I got my 84 H/O. I wanted us to pool our money together and buy the same year Ferrari Testarossa instead. They did not see how we could share time in the car. They knew I would drive it flat out.
Now you need to get a fur fedora to rock that Huggy Bear vibe.
That funny. But you had to lock the doors on brothers 84 Seville. When driving in NYC at night. Ladys of the night would jump into the car if you did not. I pass on that.
Like 69CSHC said (3 times the average new car price at the time)
man, lucky that didn't have the 4-6-8 engine.they were a pain in the butt.
Yes indeed. That debacle helped knock Cadillac off of their pedestal.

I have no doubt and the price point made sense. Cadillacs last hurrah to yesteryear, before the devastating downsizing for 1986. And that privilege was going to cost. The 1980 that Car and Driver tested alone, is still more expensive than any of the 10 least expensive new cars available in the U.S. for 2025.
Rare Commemorative Edition 1985 0nly.
My favorite seats of all time. Commemorative Edition all had white inserts and navy blue.. All the 85 came standard leather button-tuck upholstery
Wanted way too much for this one
My two tone blue engine bay. And electronic mirror and GM CB. Even had GM radar detector
Movie ''In Time'' Amanda Seyfried, Justin Timberlake. This car was for sale. I was talking to the car dealer. It was nice on the outside. But a mess inside.
Is the front bumper on that umber/orange Cadillac wrapped?
Yes, I like it!! It real clean looking! They clean up the rear too. Hollywood movie car. Look great on the big screen. Shaved the door handles and all locks. Chrome and emblem remove from hood. I liked the movie too. https://www.cadillacforums.com/threa...-doors.583721/

OMG, HighwayStar if you haven't seen this next video. I think you are really really going to appreciate parts of it. Just hit my recommended and just started watching it then my mouth dropped. What a beyond gorgeous version of an 85 Eldo. The color is amazing in that light, 30,000 original mile work of art. At 2:17 minutes you immediately come to the realization why it was the most expensive new car money could buy at the time. Followed by the angle shot at 7:27 minutes. For me I see the culmination of all of Cadillacs quality and effort to date rolled into one cars appearance. Breathtakingly shot to perfection.
Fellow members please forgive my praise if it comes off as excessive as I may be slightly biased here, being that I owned a 79 Eldo which looked to be the same exact color, but mine was unfortunately the 350 diesel version. And in nice shape but nothing like this.

Been there - done that. Low miles - mint 85 Eldorado Biarritz SS roof. It was just not as roomy and ride not as good. It's the same frame. Maybe the Seville is heavier. Seville trunk is huge as well for passenger room!!
But the worst is that everyone had to ask questions about the Eldorado Biarritz. Everywhere I went, all the time. There was no peace.
People are just lost for words looking at my 87 Cutlass. And the Seville just ask what is it.

Interesting, my 79 did not ride as nice as my aunts 85, but I figured it was more due to the fact that hers was new vs mine being 25 years old at the time. The Seville is heavier but its slight at +100 lbs base. My 71 Eldo also had a nice floaty ride but also no comparison to the 85 Seville. I would say they were both 7-8 on a scale of 1-10. The Seville was a 11.

I bet! It's a striking car with opulence dripping from its aura. The midnight blue one in the video I posted looks absolutely magnificent. And if you've ever seen Thief (1981) with James Caan you can feel Cadillac come through the screen. Such a standout its featured in the trailer.
This is literally a screenshot of the first thing you see in the trailer.
I have had and or been in an attention grabbing car for the right reasons since I got my full license. In the 80s and 90s the attention was cool. But by the mid 2000s it was becoming annoying. Now for the past 20 years or so I intentionally avoid lining up with anybody. I either sit back or slightly overshoot, but that's no guarantee that you will be left alone. It especially bothers me because my cars have always been drivers used year round. In other words I'm not jumping into it to get thumbs up, my rides served a genuine transport purpose. The 69 is the first one to be always registered and insured and sit so much in my lifetime.
I've told friends and family if that attention is even a fraction of a percent of what celebrities deal with, what a nightmare. I could be in a bad mood, or tired. I could be in a heavy conversation on my ear piece and they want to talk, I make the roll down window gesture and they usually understand and back off. I do feel bad sometimes and wave back after the incessant beeping etc. Maybe I just became an old fuddy duddy...
My 69 rusty, rough, and banged up, still gets video taped waiting in a line etc from time to time that I'm aware off. Sometimes discreetly, sometimes blatantly in my face walking around the car at a light recording. 😃
