Vin question 1971 442

you have enough of the VIN to say it’s correct in my opinion.
the missing or faint 3 means Oldsmobile..do you think it’s not an Olds?
Are you talking about the block when you say the font isnt correct? I’ve seen all kinds of different fonts for block stampings. Just google it, you’ll see many types

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The seller Flipped out on me Via Text Message because I asked too many questions. He accused me of calling him a liar and scammer just because I called him out on a few key issues I had with his story about the car. The owner's first name is Steve. I Strongly Recommend anyone looking at this car to look elsewhere as I have chosen to do. Why do people have to make it so hard for me to buy their car. I've been looking for years and every car I think is the one, the owner flakes. Buyer BEWARE - I attached a screenshot of the ad on Face Book Market Place

This is what I'm thinking ... OP needs to remember that these cars are over 50 years old and very few of them are going to survive that timespan without something sketchy happening to them.

As for the vin tag rivets, Most of the cars I have seen have the rivets installed from the bottom. If you had a photo from under the dash, I bet you would see star head rivets that were factory installed.
