Turlock, CA Swap Meet Review
Turlock, CA Swap Meet Review
Did a 2 hour run (each way) to Turlock, CA swap meet today. Pretty terrible for Olds stuff, ok to good for predictable F*rd & Chevy parts. Tons of Impala SS parts - consoles, shifters, 5x4.75 wheels, etc.
Some interesting 1920’s vehicles for sale. Most Olds-looking thing I saw were 4 ‘66 factory 14” 3-bar spinner fake wire hubcaps. I use those for parts, but have what I need.
Favorite sighting was a ‘64 Grand Prix 4 speed with a few rust problems. Rust in CA is a little weird, but not unknown. Salvageable, but $5k for a rusty starter. On the plus side, it had the factory tach & 4 speed, so value was in the ball park. Not in the market, but the bright work would have been very expensive to recondition.
Some interesting 4x4’s like old Dodge Power Wagons & the like, but I’m not a truck guy. Overall, vehicle asking prices seem to be up sharply. _Asking_Prices. Whether anyone’s buying is unknown to me.
Non-mainstream stuff was pretty hard to find at this swap. Didn’t buy a thing.
Good use of a Sunday morning.
Cheers

I agree, even the big swap meet up in Portland doesn't have but a few vendors with Oldsmobile parts. If you ever get up to Southern Oregon and have time to stop in your welcome to check out my spare parts collection. I've even got a project car or two that might be pried from my hands!
