Tornado 455

Hey guys, so I’ve been cruising Facebook marketplace, and have found someone who listed a 70 tornado front clip with a 455, missing the cylinder heads. I have a 68 cutlass supreme, and thought about slowly building a 455 for it. Anyone have a general idea of its value? It’s posted for $800 minus the heads.

In that condition(non running, disassembled), its a $250 core. there is no guarantee it runs without tearing it apart and rebuilding it.

Thanks for the response. I was thinking of offering 400, I’m glad I didn’t. We’ll see how happy he is with a $250 dollar offer haha

cheers, Tony

x2 on offering much less. You can still find a complete rebuildable 455 core for less than $1000.

It looks like it was taking a few raindrops during the photos...hopefully it hasn't been stored outside since!

Is it definitely a Toronado block? Do the numbers on the machine pad match the last six of the car? Not that it matters for a build but it may affect how much the seller thinks it is worth.

I wouldn’t gamble more than $250 on that core short block.
