Is there an Oldsmobile color?
Is there an Oldsmobile color?
Are you aware of one just unique color which stands for Oldsmobile?
like red for Ferrari or orange for Chevy.
What I found was that at least end of 60 and beginn of 70 Gold was very common for engine paint in Olds.
Asking for which color to go for updating engine and compartment.

G' day,
If you are asking about engine block colors and not exterior colors, yes they are unique in late 60 early 70s...
Simplified:
Gold was for 350s
Bronze was for 400s
Red late 60s 455s
Blue 70s 455s
Other years and displacements had their own colors but I'm concentrating on the Muscle era Olds here.

There is not an answer to your question other than the paint colors for the blocks. The rest of the compartment were varying sheens of black.
State what year car and what engine you have, and tell us what component you mean, and we can tell you what to paint it.

tought engine block Olds gold and engine compartment shiny black.
why I was asking is to have a contrast color for the valve cover.
Thank you for all your input
I think the straight 6 was a GM/Chevy corporate engine that was used in the 70s. I'm not sure what color it's "supposed" to be. FWIW, I would use a heavy duty brush on epoxy in "semi-gloss black" for other components in the engine bay. It will be alot more durable than an OE color mixed by SEM.
The ActionLine six was painted gold also, and yes, it is just a Chebby motor. The Junkaway transmissions used behind the six had dual bolt patterns on the bellhousing.
I would really like to have a straight 6 in a Omega. I had a 73 Omega back in the early eighties that originally had a 350 but that was long gone when I got it and I put a 455 in it. I also had a 68 F85 4 door that had a Chevy straight 6 in it that was a good car- very economical. I have been trying to remember the color of that engine and can't for sure though I kinda think it was chevy orange.... I know of a 67 Cutlass Convertible that has a straight 6 that is Olds gold. That is a really cool car- just soooo different...
x2
I actually just changed my valve covers from silver to Chrysler Blue. The valve covers were a bit worn, and since I had them off anyways... Now the valve covers match the block.
Good to know that the inline 6 was originally gold. Was it the same gold Olds used on the small blocks or a Chevy gold?

Oldsmobile Gold would be my vote...with some chrome accents!
That I6 is as indestructible as Chryslers leaning tower-of power-225 or Fords 240/300 I6. Simply Bulletproof.
The junkaway 2 speed can easily be remedied with a TH350 if needed.
I have seen at least one I6/TH350 that ran like a V8 with a cam, carb, header, intake, ignition, head work, and a stout shifting TH350. It was impressive and never broke.

It’s one with a TH350 😁
unfortunately the Omega still is in the US - pics and the documentation of my project can be found here https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...-lm7-swap.html
the Story developed already a bit - from LTG 2.0 turbo swap too LS swap with an LM7 ( which i bought as well) to keep the inline 6. If I would swap the engine in Austria than the regulations from the year which the motor is dated apply to the whole car - will be a challenge than!
So at the moment I will keep the Omega as original as possible!
