Tempest aluminum radiator

I moved your posts out of a 5 year old thread. You'll get more views this way.

I'm sure @joe_padavano will reply.

Where are you located? You can have the original re-cored with a 3 core but you have to find a good radiator shop. There is a good one near Indianapolis if you are close. Some of the other 62-63 Jetfire guys ship their radiators to the guy in Indy.

The Tempest radiator was a lot more work than I expected. Getting it to fit required some metal work and the 90 deg bend at the lower outlet was not going to work out. I shelved that project and have been using the brass three row I got from U.S. Radiator, which has been fine for cooling purposes. Flushing the system with Cooling System Flush from the Rust911 folks also made about a 10 deg difference in operating temperatures.

This is the one I used, and I realize that I misremembered in my post above. The correct radiator has the elbow and the aluminum Tempest radiator did not. I was concerned about my TIG skills to add the elbow, and frankly the commercial elbows I found did not have a tight enough bend.

I think that is like one I have from a parts car and you have to modify the lower mounting brackets or make new ones. Not sure what these sell for new but I could sell my used one. It only had about 100 miles on it and like new. I will be out till Tuesday next week. Headed to MCACN in Chicago. WHere are you located, If interested in it I could bring it with me if you are near there

Yes, same radiator. If they are that cheap I would go with the new one over my used one.
