Stereo speakers

Had my OEM Cassette/radio re built. I am going to install in the next week. I do have some questions regarding speaker compatibility. The OEM unit I believe has 10ohm speaker requirements. I currently have some old school speaker installed. Rears are Jensen Triax II 100 watts@ 4ohm and Altec T1 50 watt @4ohm. If I read correctly I could wire in series to obtain correct OHM but I would suffer sound quality. I could wire in some resistors, but I believe the extra heat could become problematic. I do have a an old school amp, if I installed the amp would I correct the ohms issue by installing the amp. It state on the install diagram 4-8ohms speaker systems.
I really just need the OEM stereo to work reasonably well. I considered installing a high quality stereo and spending a bunch of money, hiding the components, etc , etc. I then realized I have Bose portable with I-pod, USB connection, remote control etc. I put it in the back seat of the car and the sound is incredible. I am just going to use that for my car stereo. Simple and no one would consider stealing a OEM cassette from my car.

Thanks
Mike

That actual sound quality would not be any different. You would still have left and right channels but you would lose the ability to fade front-rear. Not a big issue in my book.

It wouldn't really be an issue if you had the appropriate wattage resistors, but heat is just wasted power that could be used for sound instead.

Thank for the reply.
I had thought the resistor heat would be high. Enough to burn your finger if touched. It makes me worried the heat could cause damage if not correctly protected. I didn't want to risk problems. The series resolution might be the best then. Front to rear fade would not be issue for me. How about the amp solution? practical?
