Z = Fremont and " - " = Spec. Paint so unless you think they doctored the data plate (looks legit to me), I guess you could get a custom paint order through Fremont. I'm sure I've seen at least a couple of other '70s that were Daytona Yellow.

To get one what?
Regardless, one item that ain't legit is the 10-bolt rear. Among other things.

"The guy " was probably under 25 years old.
Back then, insurance was very expensive if you were under 25 and had a 4 speed car.
Sometimes the insurance payment was more than the car payment.
Quite a few got around this by ordering a 3 speed " Dearborn " trans.
The 4 speed was obviously added later and they saved the original 3 speed.
Thats Sebring Yellow, one of 4 1970 Special order colors that could be sprayed at any assembly plant. I believe the Lansing only special paint was for colors that were not part of the Oldsmobile pallet, like the Purple W30 that was talked about here recently

My insurance payment exceeded my car payment on my 1967 4-4-2 when I bought it in 1969. It was an awesome car to drive for three years, but they kept hiking my insurance rates (even w/ no accidents). I was a poor kid at 16 yrs when I bought it, and I wasn't any richer when I had to sell it in 1972 for one reason only - insurance payment(s) were killing me.

My bad, Sebring Yellow. Of course the feature car is Daytona.
Special order paint cars came from all assembly plants. Sebring Yellow is one of the "not so special" order paints. I've never quite understood why the four 1970 colors (or three 1969 colors) were considered "special order" when they were right on the color selection sheet. Real "special order" paint colors were the non-Olds and non-GM colors like Plum Crazy, Yellow cab orange, and Mary Kay pink.
Here are other special order paint cowl tags from Framingham and Linden
