Should I Spring Into Action?

While getting my 69 Cutlass ready for paint a couple of things became clear:

1) the pass quarter had an old wound that had been repaired,
2) that quarter was an inch and a half higher than the driver side,
3) the driver front was lower than the pass side,
4) the ride is soft

Did the rear damage warp the rear making the pass side higher or is the obviously lower driver front being soft and lower transfer causing the uneven stance in the rear?

If that makes sense, should I do new springs as well as shocks and take another look at how it sits with fresh parts?

Could have a tweeked frame have it checked out. This could have happen when the old wound was made. Many repair shops used to do the body but not the frame. yes I know because I have a tweeked frame on mine. But also could be something less drastic.

That did cross my mind, I was just wanting to think weak front springs were giving it an awkward stance. If a frame adjustment is needed would that call for me to have to realign door/fender gaps after straightening the frame?

If they were all shimmed to hide the promblem more than likely. If the springs are old replacing them is not a bad thing either.

Just for the halibut, drill a 1/8 inch hole through the quarter and see if the outer skin was hung over the wrinkled one!
I've seen that more than once, causing weight and all kinds of alignment problems.
