Romney Likes my car
I took my car on a long road trip to hang with my Son. Just happen to be in Utah last week when Mr Romney was in town. (NOT Planned by me!!)
The last thing I wanted was a traffic jam and long lines...but it was Ok.
The big guy himself stopped to talk to me as I was checking the oil and other fluids in my 64 olds. ( Long trip always gotta check fluids!)
He asked if the 394 was 2 barrel or 4... Gotta love it!!.
Nice guy and seemed down to earth. Never want to bring in politics to this forum...just thought it was cool

Seems like a way-cool encounter to me. How coincidental was that? And to think - if you did not have the Olds, it would not have happened.
Now if he makes it to pres, then you will have a BIG tale to tell for a long time!

LOL. How funny is that? I wonder if his body guards ran your license plate# to see what year the car was, and googled the car specs. Anything goes this time of year.

Maybe that encounter will make him think about the needs of old car people, and get the EPA under control to where they're not always trying to do away with old cars among other things.
The other side certainly demonizes them enough. Nincompoops need to realise that utopia/ perfect world is an unrealistic goal.

That's awesome, cool story. My brush with fame was, I once worked on President Obama's computer before he was a US senator, for real. It was a Think Pad and it had a virus. Interesting contrast....computer virus...Olds 394... Go figure.

A car guy running for pres?
He's got my vote, ha ha.
My brush is that every 6 months
for the past 17 yrs we take care
of the windows on Roger Staubach's
lake house. I have got to talk with him
twice over the years.

Romney is a bit of a car guy. One of his cars is a 1962 Nash Rambler convertible.

There was an attempt to make political hay over the car elevator to a 4 car basement garage that he is building in La Jolla. I can't see a problem, I could learn to like an underground garage. I tried to find a link that was heavy on the garage and light on the politics.

his dad was a car exec, he ran AMC..
still don't see how a car guy voted against the auto bail out, but whatever.... don't want to turn this thread political.. It was very cool that he stopped and talked to you about your car

If your contention is he said he wasn't in favor of it, he doesn't think Gov't should interlope on private industry. Generally I agree but in this instance I believe the right thing to do was for the Gov't to intercede.

Romney's father ran AMC and Mitt is from Michigan so he is definitely a car guy. One company went without taking the bailout and government money and they seem to be doing OK. I just believe that when the government gets involved, it is not good. Too many opportunities for decisions to be made for political reasons. But the bailouts are in the past. It is time to move ahead. get the government out of GM - and stop losing money on the Volt

Let's see...1st Olds then Pontiac, who's next?
Not to mention Plymouth and Mercury. But I did.
Taking bets on Buick when you have to pull a motor

I heard Romney speak at a construction industry banquet about eight years ago. He was one of the best speakers I've ever heard. He spoke mostly off the cuff, loosely adhering to an outliine. He was engaging, articulate and down to earth. He didn't come off as the elitist that he currently being portrayed as. The press is presenting the candidates exactly the way they want them portrayed.

Small businesses are getting killed. They are the backbone of our economy. Our healthcare costs have sky rocketed. Up more than the $2,500 number we read about. Gasoline costs are another item. Then there are all the other costs. Just sayin' - this is not good. Very afraid things will get worse.
