Robbing 93 camaro for parts

There is a 93 z28 camaro in my area that is for sale. I was toying with the idea of purchasing it to pull the t56 trans out for my 71 cutlass then parting out the rest of it. Currently I have an open 10 bolt rear end and manual drum brakes all around and was curious if I could fit the rear end and brakes out of the camaro into the cutlass. Honestly I haven't started digging through the details of part fitment but I thought I would throw this out to see if this was even close to a possibility. One way or another, the tranny, rear end, and brakes are going to need an upgrade. I can have any necessary mounting brackets cut out and bent for me at my work but I'm not sure its worth the effort. Any advice would be great!

if it has rear disc, they are almost a bolt on to any gm 10 or 12 bolt. minor spacers may be needed, the front ones wont work. keep the disc/disc porp valve, master cyl. the rear end is a weak 7.5 throw it away. the t56,i have read of guys using it. lots of adaptation articles on line.will find more if you look for Chevelle. I believe there are articles on this site.

The aftermarket McLeod bell housing work. I believe the input might need shortened slightly. There is two gear sets depending on the gear ratio and different torque ratings. https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&sourc...ofzOy2GMVr6STB

You mentioned you would part out the car when you take the desired parts. Do you have a spot to store the car for a year + while you part it? I live on 1.5 acres in the county and my wife would kill me if I started buying cars to "part out." If you live in the city or an HOA then forget about parting out a car.

That Camaro has a torque arm rear suspension. The axle housing won't adapt to the Olds four link. The housing is also wider and is probably a 7.5" anyway.

The F body will have a 7.5 rearend, useless for your Olds. I’m not sure what it would take to use the disc brakes on the rear. The steering gearbox is easily adaptable to the Olds wit if you swap pitman arms and either get hose adapters to use the older steering pump on the newer metric gearbox.

Im not sure what would be involved in using the manual trans.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I didn't move fast enough and lost the opportunity for the camaro. I'm sure there will be other opportunities that will come up. Good info on the rear end, thx. 69442ragtop, the cutlass I just acquired has a 455 in front of the original TH350 trans, an open 10 bolt rear end, and manual drum brakes all around. If I want to get the good stuff from the 455 to connect to the road, a posi unit would be nice and if I'm going to spend money on that, and disc brakes, I might as well get a rear end that has all that already. The TH350 won't survive for long behind the 455 with good hook up. I'm learning, and made some ignorant assumptions on the camaro without researching. Thanks for straightening me out!

Nate, when I did research to find a T-56 to go behind my 455, I found out that many Camaro 6-speeds didn't have the torque capacity required to back a big-cube engine.
