Rallye 350

I have what I believe is a Rallye 350. In 1978-80 when I went to high school it ran around town with the rest of the cudas and chevelles and mustangs and Camero's and yes what ever other muscle cars there were. Small town north of Grand Rapids Michigan. Anyway my friend bought it and then gave it to me in about 1990. I have not done anything with it as I was busy in the military traveling. Now retired thinking now is the time for a resto. I think I will need a donor body. Any suggestions on what one I need? Also other then looking for the build sheet under the drivers carpet thoughts on validating the car is a Rallye? It has all the right markings and engine and air cleaner stuff. It's a bench seat column automatic btw.

Without original paperwork it is hard to be certain of what it is, BUT, there are some clues that could help determine one way or the other. The easiest to check is on the cowl tag under the hood. On the right side of the tag there are three letters, PNT. To the left of those letters it should be a - - if it is a Rallye 350 as Sebring yellow was a special order paint. Maybe take a clear picture of that tag & list the first part of the VIN? It should start out something like 33687M or 33277M. There are a few other things to check of these are correct. Any pictures of under the hood, interior, & of the car in general will help us help you.

Why do you "believe" it's a Rallye? Rallye 350 cars are not exactly subtle. Granted, some got the body-color bumpers replaced with chrome, and cars can be repainted, but still.

I guess I let this die out. Sorry. All the paint codes of -- are there. I believe it to be because the guy who owned it before my high school was not a real hot rod kind of guy. Meaning he didn't spend anytime on his car he just drove it. So I can not imagine him going to any length at all to make a car cool. Especially to the extent of Polyurethane bumpers and what not. Car has the rear spoiler, corrects rims hood with air cleaner. correct paint and strips. Bench seat, auto trans on the column. correct engine (but they were fairly common). I guess I should look for a build sheet.

Wow, this is really an old thread. I believe I remember reading somewhere on this site several years ago that the Rallye had ground straps that grounded the rear bumper due to the polyurethan coating. You might look for those.

That is a new one on me. We are always learning. Any pictures of the bumper ground straps?

No pictures because I unfortunately never owned one. I am pretty sure I read that on here several years ago.

At 75, my mind is still fairly sound . As Joe P. has said in the past, the search function is your friend. Here is the thread but no pictures.

I am just glad at my age I remembered something. Really glad to have helped out. I would love to have a Rallye 4-speed.
