Question about transmission tunnel on 1964 Cutlass. Any ideas?
Yesterday I drug home a couple project/parts cars I found on Craigslist. They both look pretty rough, so I'll need to clean them up to see if they're worth saving or just consider them parts cars. The first is a convertible that has some nice parts on it, but bad rust. Old yellow on black California plates so I suspect it was a coast car that had salt air on it. The second is a Cutlass 2 door hardtop that's a rolling shell the previous owner planned to use as a donor car, but it's pretty rough too. We've had colder than normal weather the last week or two and there's still snow on the ground so I'll probably not do much with these cars until the weather gets better. The point of this post is the hardtop car has a floor shifter that's not stock, but under it is a transmission hump piece that looks like its been there a long time... but not anything I've seen before. I've got a 1964 Cutlass 4 speed car and the hump under the console is further forward than this, and it's a pretty significant hump. This one is much smaller and further back than I'd expected. It used to be a bucket seat car, the brackets are still there. I also don't see any evidence that it was a manual transmission car. So I'm wondering if this hump was installed by a previous owner many years ago. Anybody see one like this before?

The shifter is 1965-66 Impala, and I'm guessing that section of the hump came from the donor car to make it fit.

Thank you for keying this out for me Joe! Well, I'll be putting it in the parts for sale or trade pile. But at least I now know what it is and what it fits.
I'll create another thread with more photos of the two cars.
