check with Monzaz (jim) or 507OLDS (brian). They both specialize in differentials

Not sure about your application, but my car now has the 3.73 posi guts from a 79' Camaro I got from a recycle yard, in place of the stock 2.56 open unit. You don't just plop this stuff in, as you need to properly set pinion depth, and shim the ring assembly for proper teeth mesh. Having some Loctite bearing mount fluid handy's a good idea, as sometimes needed for loose fitting pinion bearings. I did the install myself, but probably best having a qualified shop do it. This work isn't cheap though.

I am thinking it will not fit because the Jetstar was basicly a Cutlass with the larger 88 body. Running gear and rear was almost that of the Cutlass. Now I am pretty sure the entire rear from a Sfire will swap into the Jstar but wheel bolt pattern will be 5 inch and not 4 3/4 like the Jetstar. I am not sure about driveshaft issues.

No, the differential won't swap. Yes, the whole housing will swap, but you'll need to have the axle shafts and brake drums redrilled for the 5 x 4.75" bolt circle.

And just to clarify, the J88 is NOT "...a Cutlass with the larger 88 body..."

The J88 uses the same frame and suspension as the other B-body cars. The differences were the front spindles and brakes, the rear axle housing, and the 330 engine with Jetaway trans. These are the only parts that are different from other B-body parts. The brakes are Cutlass 9.5" drums, but the spindles and rear axle housing are unique to the J88.

The J88 uses the same control arms and ball joints as all the other B/C-body cars from the same year, so yes the spindles will interchange. If you do end up swapping the brakes front and back, be sure to get a master cylinder that's compatible with the new brakes.
