Pix Of Cars Damaged At Russo Steele

I Just got sent the pictures of the individual cars damaged at Russo Steele. A beautiful 70 W30 all caved in on the side! Makes you sick.

That is terrible. I am not aware of the back story, it appears there was some vandalism. That little bug eyed sprite was so bad they had to cover it with plastic. What a shame.

It was a storm that went through the valley, knocked the tents down. Some of those convertibles that have the windshields completely flattened ain't gonna be a easy fix.

What did that slightly damaged Tucker vert go for?

The black '72 W30 post coupe is an extremely low mileage original paint car that was beautifully preserved. So much for that... The same guy owns the '68 Hurst/Olds post coupe that got damaged as well. Pretty disgusting.

I was talking to a friend of mine from Vancouver BC and he had left about an hour before the tent came down and returned to see the carnage. He said it was like walking through a wreckers back in the 80s with all the broken windows and damaged cars, even some of the vettes were pounded so bad that the gel coat was showing and the panels were splitting and cracked.
He purchased a few cars but I didn't have the heart to ask him if his had been destroyed or pounded into the gravel parking lot.
The next time I call him I'll ask if his were some of the lucky ones.

The fire dept would not let people back in for over a day. The tents and poles just blew and flopped around for several hours just beating the crap out of the cars. There was lots of damage to many cars. Its sickening to look at.

Yowch!

I had heard there was tent issues, a lady on the radio said one tent had rolled across the freeway right behind her. I drove by the show location like the day after it all happened and could still see quite a few three legged tents just from the freeway.

Didn't realize the damage was quite so horrific. I'm surprised though, in those pictures it looks like most of the damage was done by flying rocks and gravel, not from tents.

I also heard there was actually a tornado sighting in Carefree, which is just a "stones throw" ( ) North of where Russo Steele were setup.

Same here.
Back on March 9, 2003, a bunch of classic Oldsmobiles, 20-25 cars (and a 1968 W-34 Toronado included), got wrecked, becasue the roof of the building came down!

Ouch!
Other feelings as I wandered through the pictures:
It was almost a search and destroy mission against antennas
It is amazing how easily bondo cracks when hit
Insurance company will pay big for this one. We're not talking about Macco paint jobs here.

Not as bad as I thought they would be, that's what insurance is for, hate to use it but that's the whole idea.
Do you think if they didn't have any insurance the insurance companies would accept them with pre-existing conditions then process their immediate claim and fix the cars?

They're just cars, it's a shame what happened but they can be fixed, it happens.
My dog is worth more to me than all of them put together.
I ain't gonna' get all bent out of shape about it.

Although it's very sad what happened to those cars, it's important to mention there was no loss of life associated with the storm.

The damage suffered there was pretty bad but it could have been much worse. They came pretty close to getting hit with a tornado and if that happened many of the cars would have been total write offs. It looks like all of these cars are fixable. It did expose some shoddy work though , you would see some older cars with big dents and just a little paint scratched and chipped but some cars had huge chunks of paint come off when the top or fender got hit. Maybe with insurance they can get a good body job done

"Man's best friend" was never more true for my buddy Rusty , a rescued greyhound who was always by my side til he passed away almost 2 years ago. I would defenitely trade my Olds to have him with me now. He is buried here under the mulberry tree , a garden that I made after I buried him here.

Which may, in the long run, be a good thing. Might make people think twice about doing quickie jobs just to flip and make an obscene profit if they think there's a possibility they'll be exposed.
