Picked up a new one: '71 Cutlass Viking Blue Vert

As the song goes "Oops...I did it again!"

Just purchased a 1971 Cutlass Supreme convertible in viking blue. I've been very lucky to make a profit on my previous Cutlasses and after selling my '69 I was able to purchase this car at the same price that I sold it for (just had to drive 4.5 hours to New Hampshire to get it).

Underwent a restoration five years ago with new sheet metal (no rust anywhere), interior, exhaust, top, paint etc. Oh and the best part...it has a 455 with a performance cam and some chrome headers. The rebuilt engine features the original block but the top half components have been replaced (now running 1970 E heads).

Thanks to others in a previous thread, the data plate was decoded and the original color is viking blue with a black top; I love this combination. I think I have found the permanent Oldsmobile for me...no more trading up. It's a torque monster and amazing fun to drive! Maybe one day I'll get an OAI hood and clone her as a 442

Bill (or as my neighbors now call me - "Oldsmobill")

you did good Bill. You actually made money selling your 69 when everyone else is taking a hit and you parlayed that into getting the convertible you wanted.......even if it is a 71! joking! looks like you found your keeper.. interior looks like you could eat off it, and Viking blue is stunning.. hope to see it in person in the near future...

Gorgeous car! Is that an extra vacuum pump to run the brakes on the right side? Thinking that if the 455 has a performance cam, you probably need some help with the power brake booster....

Thanks Matt. I feel fortunate that the sales on my previous Cutlass' were profitable and I was able to step up to a car that has already had the work done to it. I know its not a '69, but I look forward to seeing yours and mine together as soon as you find the right one...

Thanks Allan - you are correct as usual! The cam created some vacuum issues so the seller added the pump and did a disc brake conversion kit from Fusick to address it. It goes and stops really well...
