Minnesota Paint Non Sense
Bill recently submitted at the capitol
SF 3554, sponsored by MN State Senators McEwen
(DFL), Seeberger (DFL), and Hoffman (DFL), more
tightly regulates, not only the sale of paint to
Minnesotans, but also who could use that paint.
“...no individual shall perform or supervise painting
work unless the individual is licensed by the
commissioner as a master painter, and the painting
work is for a licensed paint contractor and the
individual is an employee, partner, or officer of, or
is the licensed contractor.
Unless Water Color Paint
WATERBOURNE ONLY
Time to stock up on some paint
BEFORE I need a license to BUY IT and license to USE IT.

Is this referring to automotive/industrial or interior/exterior residential/commercial contract painting??
I am amazed at what these "law makers" do to justify their existence.
I'm pretty sure there are MANY more pressing matters that need immediate attention.
Sure, they will act fast on something as irreverent as this when the more important matters drag out for months/years.
I know, I know take the common sense out of the equation....
Ill bottom line the whole thing...someone is profiting from it period!

As with prior attempts at painting bans in other states, don't expect this to go anywhere. For one thing it completely overlooks farmers who have to maintain their farm equipment. The ag industry will be all over this. The law also appears to exempt containers 1 qt and under, which has been the case for lacquer paint for decades.
