Ok guys and gals. Here's one for you. How many of you know about the 1910 Oldsmobile Limited? Here is a primer from another thread to get things started, there are a few pics of some nice ones there.

I didn't know about that car. Is that the car depicted in the "old school" painting of an Oldsmobile racing a steam engine? Isn't the title of the painting "The Race?" I can only imagine how difficult it would be to restore a vehicle like that.

That is correct, it is the car depicted in the famous photo. The car had a top speed of (if my old mind is correct) 60+ miles an hour and 26" wheels. The painting was inspired by the fact that the car was so fast for the day! The cost for the car was in the $3000 range and thus why very few were built.

I will transcribe the information from one of my references this evening. But can you imagine a car with a 6 cylinder engine that displaces over 700 cubic inches and 42" wheels?

Here is the painting that was referred to. It is called "Setting the Pace".

Okay, Dan, to your original question, specifically the 1910 Limited. Going from the linked article, it was also produced in 1911 and 1912 and expanded to many models, even firetrucks (now *there* would be an odd combo to have!).
But in 1910 it only came four different styles: seven passenger Touring, Roadster, Close-coupled Touring and Limousine. I think the style descriptions pretty well describe them.
"Oldsmobile Muscle Machine, or was it a Luxo-Barge?" Both.......and more. Truly outstanding automobiles in their day, and not any less impressive today!

I got a chance to closely examine "Whitey", the 1911 Limited, at the Olds Centennial in Lansing. You have to stand alongside one of these cars to understand how truly massive they are.

Thanks for the correction, You are right it was 42' wheels, see my brain is shrinking so did the size of the tires!

Well, looks like I forgot about my own thread . Here's hoping I remember to transcribe that data soon.
