I'm sure we were all aware of these, right?

That July 1969 issue of Hot Rod has a photo inside with about 10 Olds experimental engines. One of them is wearing the dual Qjet cross ram in my avatar photo.

The engine on the cover is wearing this intake:

Joe, do you own those intake manifolds, or are they in a museum someplace?

They're in my barn, but if I call it a "museum" is it a tax deduction?

Those are definitely cool toys!

I don't know about the tax deduction, I'm not a CPA. Maybe someone else on our site can help you out. It's worth looking into in today's economy.

Joe, on the dual Q-jet intake, what are the holes over the runner(s) for? They appear to be cast in, would they be for sensors in order for Oldsmobile to test the A/F ratio? Neat stuff.

Those holes are how you bolt that intake to the heads. The bolt (and socket and extension) goes through the hole. Once the manifold is torqued down, the holes are sealed with threaded allen head plugs.

Joe, how about i trade you my barn and my 2 magazines for your barn and 2 intakes?

Seriously ive often thought about reproducing that lower intake from the pp air gap. I would need to get the carb mounts from something and fabricate it in. I know it wouldnt look as cast but sort of give the oldschool homebuilt feel like the first hemi tunnel ram althought not as crude as hose and hose clamps.

Someday after the gasser is built im going to have to give it a whirl. Its been stewing in my mind now. Or i could just step up and buy the experimental one that Bud has for sale over on ROP.
