Not One Oldsmobile
Not One Oldsmobile
Driving my 1994 CS Supreme, I just got back from a there and back trip from where I live now in western SC to the inner bank of NC. It's about 7 - 8 hours each way. I took I-20 to I-95 to US - 70 on in. I hate to say this, but I did not see one single Oldsmobile (besides mine) either way all day on this trip. Man, that's sad.
I realize Olds is now 19 years removed from building their last new car, but none at all? Geez.
I did get treated to a bunch of thumbs up while I was driving which was nice to see. This car has no problem keeping up with traffic, so there was no lurching around in the right lane holding up the 18 wheelers. I did 70-80 mph with the air on the whole time. These days you have to or you get clobbered.

And as of Friday there's one less. My cousin's 2000 3.0 Intrigue blew a head gasket Friday afternoon.
Some say it's only an Intrigue. She never knew what the Intrigue was capable of or designed to be. It was just transportation to her but that was one tough little SOB and the few times I drove it, it was a fun car.
Anyhow, it's headed to the scrapyard Monday morning. RIP little Oldsmobile.

Around here I still see a fair number of '68-72 Cutlii. Guy just down the street has a nice blue/blue '68 convertible. and there's quite a few '70-72 cars in the next town. A lot of them are drivers, too.
Very, very, very few classic cars around this area - there are some, but there aren't many. I reside in Podunk - population 3800. There are far, far more classic pick-em-up trucks running about as daily drivers than there are classic cars.
I just returned from the St Ignance car show in Michigans U.P. My wife, myself and youngest daughter arrived Thursday and went sightseeing all day Friday. I’m pleased to report a substantial Olds turnout. I’m guessing easily 50 plus, everything from the 40s to the last years.
