I’m gonna buy an edlebrock, I like the location of the mixer and idle screws and it’ll be easier to work on if need be.

I hope you have purchased and own the Chassis Service Manual (CSM) for your vehicle. It is your bible for everything mechanical for your car. It contains precise tuning of the carburetor - it's your go-to number one source. If you don't own the CSM, now is a good time to purchase that absolute must-have. There are several threads/posts regarding your carburetor and the 3.8 - you might perform some searches to get acquainted while you're expanding your knowledge base regarding the carburetor and tuning of the carburetor. I'll provide you w/ a quick URL link for one such post. The CCC Quadrajet (as I said) was designed/engineered for this engine. Owning the correct carburetor and knowing you have a knowledgeable source of information (the OEM CSM), you'll be miles ahead.
