Mini Starter who has tried what?

I am considering a mini high torque starter. Who has tried what and what kind of success have you had? Where is best to buy and so on? Thanks
Larry

I bought the Powermaster XS 9510 used, worked great till I messed with it and shorted it out. Also bought the Summit mini starter, fine as long as you don't over tighten the marked connection, first one wasn't marked. Also bought an Ebay no name clockable mini starter, has worked fine, even grinding on the body so it would hug tighter on the 4x4.

I bought mine from this guy.

I didn't buy on eBay but had driven past his shop on numerous occasions when I was building houses in Grand Prairie and bought directly from his shop. I found him on eBay afterwards. I've been very happy with the starter, no problems in 4+ years of use. It took a couple of days to get used to the different gear sound on start up though.

Is eveyone using the 9510 or have any of you used other models? I don't care how it sounds as long as it works.

Mine is a XS 9526, but I use it on a 468 Chevy, I run 10.5:1 compression with my timing @ 21 initial. The starter spins it over without a grunt.

The XS 9510 is the Oldsmobile equivalent to mine. The XS 9610 is a good starter also. They weigh less than 10 lbs.

I have this one also I got from Ebay . Price was $150 to my door and has worked great for the mild 455 I built for my car with headers . Best sounding starter I have heard from an older GM . Wish I had one of these back in the days of "heat soaked" no starting fun times
