You can use a edelbrock carb, fairly cheap and the work good. Distributor from any 65-57 olds maybe others too. Starters are cheap, I have a distributor and a starter if you need one.

For the most part, any external part that fits a 455 will also fit a 425. That includes intake, exhaust, distributor, carb, water pump, timing chain, oil pump and pan, etc. Even the heads interchange. Differences are the flywheel/flexplate (due to the different crank flange bolt pattern), the cam (if the block is one with a 45 deg lifter bank angle), and the rotating assembly due to the shorter stroke, longer rods, and different piston compression height. Also some 425s have 0.921" lifters vs 0.842" diameter.

Why use an aftermarket carb ? Get a stock carb and you won't need to adapt or cobble things up. Carb linkage, transmission kick down, fuel line, carb jetting are some things you would need to have working right. You can always swap to an aftermarket carb later when things are running right.
