25 degrees yesterday soooo, off to a yard I haven't visited in years. Truck beds busses and RVs hide some neat finds... AKA shakey jake, this may need to have a new home

Junk yard dogs

If any of you guys are in one of these yards and come across a back glass (clear no tint) that's in mint condition for a 69' 442, I could use it. Original one had chips in it (don't know how you chip the back glass) looked for a replacement, the best I could do was one from desert dog and that has some small scratches in it. I see in the pic's a 69' and a 70-72? but can't tell what the glass is like

W-30 Joe:

I'm looking for one as well. I don't see anything in the after market for them. I do believe
a 68-72 Hardtop coupe will all fit. Good luck!

Joe, RROLDSX, I'd encourage you guys to create parts wanted threads. I've got 3 or 4 here in Oregon and am sure there's other members who have extra glass too. Ideally it would be best to find something within driving distance. Building a crate would likely cost more than the glass. John

Thanks John. Any chance you'll be at the Portland swap meet with one of those rear windows?

Sorry, I won't be making the Portland meet this year. I'm about 300 miles south of Portland, are there other things your looking for? Any chance I could make your extra drive worth while? Send me a PM or email if you'd like to explore this further.

Thanks John, it would be great to give you a nice list of what I need and to meet you but I won't be able to make to Medford. I'm kinda pushing it dragging my wife to Portland for 3 days to sit in a parking lot. Promised her a trip to Oceanside on the way home. Thanks anyway.

Anyone need anything before they are gone?

Saw these today in a local you pull it yard in Chula Vista. Cars here only last a few weeks, so I thought I'd get the word out in case anyone needs parts.
1977 Cutlass 2 door
1975 Delta 88
1975 Omega 2 door

All are mostly complete with radios, steering wheels, door panels, disk brakes, carbs, engines, AC, etc. All are rust free. I will be at the yard Friday, so if you need something let me know.

1965 Oldsmobile Jetstar 88

I found this 1965 Jetstar 88 in a local junk yesterday, it has a few good parts on it. I got the rear bumper. If anyone needs anything let me know. I has a 330 engine, 2 spd auto transmission. I know the axles on these cars can be hard to come by. This yard is kind of high price on selling parts. The fenders have rust hole in the bottom. My friend got the wheels.

Nothing to be embarrassed about. They just didn't have the know how in those days about storing a car. There was nothing like what's on the market today. I think some other place in the US did the same thing to a Viper in the 90s. That car should fare little better with the way it was "packaged" when they finally dig it up.

Is that a '52 Chebby? I remember my father getting one after the '49 Lincoln fell victim to a Bell System Christmas party.

Green Chevy is a '51, '52 is the same basic car with variations in the trim.

You do not see one of these for sale everyday. Ran across this one in Zebulon Nc last week.

So I am in the muffler shop today getting the Pypes exhaust modified for the 442 I am working on because they do not fit.

In the course of conversation the guy tells me about all of these 60s cars that recently showed up at a salvage yard.

This is what I found there:

This ’65 “98” is very original;
2014-08-13123146.jpg
The engine looks nearly untouched!
2014-08-13123158.jpg

It has its original carburetor, coil, distributor, etc.

2014-08-13143835.jpg

There was also a host of other cars:

2014-08-13130036.jpg

2014-08-13130207.jpg

2014-08-13130216.jpg

Each car's trunk was packed with more parts!

2014-08-13132221.jpg

2014-08-13124801.jpg

Like FOUR SPEED transmissions;

2014-08-13125641.jpg

Disc brake set ups;

2014-08-13122319.jpg

Even the interior's were PACKED with parts!

Look at all of these radios in a back seat:

2014-08-13135551.jpg
Look closely in that pic and you'll see a pair of Vista Cruiser roof windows.

Some were very old!

One car had a dozen old 8 track players in the back seat;

2014-08-13122218.jpg

Most of the cars had complete original engines right down to the air cleaners:

2014-08-13125302.jpg

How about this Corvair?

2014-08-13120615.jpg

Other crazy stuff;

2014-08-13132016.jpg

A complete 394 engine assembly, '64 maybe?

2014-08-13135201.jpg

A '72 350 still in the entire Cutlass frame;

2014-08-13135028.jpg
2014-08-13122342.jpg
2014-08-13125626.jpg
It seemed like every engine no matter how old or deteriorated it had the correct A/C compressor, alternator, PS pump and air cleaner;
2014-08-13131919.jpg
Rows of 60s rear ends and engines:
2014-08-13135039.jpg
Huge bins of the same era wheel covers, sheds full of doors and hoods, and on and on and on

can you provide the name and/or phone number of this place and do they allow you to go in there and pull your own parts?

I saw these today in the yard in Chula Vista. Both cars have near zero rust, and the core support on the 69 Cutlass is in amazing shape. The Delta even has the stock radio still in it. Let me know if you need more info.

A few more pictures. The engine bay is from the Cutlass. It is an AC car, but it looks like someone swapped in a 4.3 Chevy V6 in it.

Not sure how I never saw this thread, but I've got a few pictures of old iron turning to dirt, plenty more if you click the thumbnails below. I'm going back up there sometime in the spring to grab a set of seats from a 80's Caprice, I'll be sure to grab a few more photo's while I'm up there.
