Visit this weekend to see if Saturn engines are removable and what they have.... no joy, but I wandered thru the Foreign section and found a guy removing the 6 cyl engine from a '59 Mercedes Benz [pix later?]. Weird half-auto half-clutched trans. '79 Porsche 928 with most of a V6 still in place. Another Benz that has the distributor cap nounted right on the end of the camshaft atop one of the heads. A couple of really cool looking MBenz air cleaners, almost look like they would fit on a QJet.

Here's a much nicer version of the boneyard "ponton" 1959 Benz [but this one appears to be a 4-cyl Die&Sell, whereas the one in the local yard is the hot rod 6-cyl gasoline? engine]:

THIS looks more like it:

some Yard Dogs

I took a road trip yesterday for business but took some back roads and caught some pretty good Yard dogs sitting around.

1966 Galaxie 500 Vert. not a rust hole in the entire body. Inspection sticker said 1972! Not sure of the engine. This thing looked untouched for the past 35 years.

this car was sitting under a shed roof that used to be a saw mill. I have a lot of other pics from this site. There is a lot of farm equipment under the shed as well as a White Road tractor in the woods that is remarkable!

Nice Panel van sitting behind a barn

This baby was sitting all by itself. Great Rat rod prospect.

The next pics are all from the same place. The guy is definitely into mopars. I looked for someone around to talk junk to but couldn`t find anybody. There were quite a few other cars around under the shed but I felt like I was trespassing and didn`t hang around long. Will definitely go back!

I was at a car show Friday night and a guy told me there was a 69 vert in a local yard. Turns out there's a lot of stuff at this place. There's a lot more non-Olds stuff there too. I'll get some more pics the next time I go there

442 junkyard find

I saw this at the 18 wheeler savage yard. Later I found out that this car was in running condition and was listed on craigslist for $5,000. They end up selling it for $3,800 What pisses me off was when I was there I asked the owner if he would sell that car. He told me no at the time.

Stumbled across this yard a couple weeks ago but it was a Sunday & it was closed. I finally went back 2 days(8-9-13) ago & was amazed at what is there. Some newer cars, but the ones that counted were MANY '68-'72 G.M. cars, about a dozen Deltas & 98s, 4 or 5 Cutlass, several Buicks, several Impala/caprices & a handful of Mopars & Fords(67-69 Torinos & Galaxies)
Most if not all of the Oldsmobiles had the engines in them, 350s, 455s etc... I have not seen this many nice parts cars in a yard in 10-15 years probably. Most of them have been sitting a long time, but still lots of good parts.
The guy who runs it got mad when we emerged with our arm loads of parts. He kept calling us "peckers". Finally we figured out he meant "pickers" as in American pickers I guess?!
He said he didn't want to sell us anything & that we would just sell them on ebay or hoard them for ourselves. We finally calmed him down & did manage to buy what we had, but I don't think we will be welcomed back.
I could literally spend 3 or 4 days there pulling stuff.
The weeds & thornes were shoulder deep in most places & the mosquitos were viscious, but it was worth it.
Funny, he accused us of being hoarders & he's had these cars for who knows how long.
The post cars were pretty complete, but the B pillar trim was junk in both of them.

People that own/run car salvage yards can be really strange.

I wonder if all you wanted was a single obscure nut/bolt if he would have bitched/moaned/groaned you didn't buy ENOUGH stuff & told you ..... "y'all ain't nuttin' but brawzzerz".

That 70 Royale gives me a big sad.

I was scrounging around in the junkyard once back in the 80's. I saw something that appeared to an aluminum intake. Upon closer examination it turned out to be a 1970 w-455 intake, mint. I calmly walked out of the yard, after having paid $ 25 for it.

We have been vacationing in Morehead City this week and I ran into this nice Chev sitting in a side yard. Ths car was in very nice original condition. I hope it doesn`t sit out like this in the salt air too long!
