Insert image icon

As I was just starting a new thread, I tried to use the "INSERT IMAGE" icon to add some photos and when I saved the thread the photos did not appear... I was able to insert them using the attachment icon without issue... Is this another change that was made recently, or did I do something incorrectly???

That bloody thing () seemed to stop working properly a few months ago, so I've just ignored it.

It presents some kind of a huge, cumbersome image mechanism, which, as you noted, you can completely avoid by using the "Manage Attachments" feature and then embedding images manually using the [img] -- [/img] tags.

I haven't had any issues with the icon either, which is surprising since I am not very computer literate.

Works for me also. I especially like the new insert image functionality that gives you the option of inserting from a URL or from a file on your device. FYI, I'm using Firefox on a Win10 machine, in case browser matters here.

I am also using Firefox but on Win7... I will try it again just to see if it was a temporary issue with my machine... Thanks to everyone for the feedback, it's appreciated...

I just find the new image loading system to be cumbersome and buggy.

When I tried to use it (several times), I was unable to have it place the image exactly where I wanted it, and almost every time that I tried to load an image from a url, it said that the image couldn't be found.

On the other hand, if I open an image in its own window (to confirm its appearance), copy the url, and place the url between img tags, it loads exactly the way and in the location where I want it.

I've had to do this occasionally. The problem appears to be that the image tool is looking for a URL that ends in .JPG, .PNG, or a similar graphics extension. Many websites seem to add stuff to the end of their graphics URLs, and this confuses the image tool into thinking it is not a graphic. This, unfortunately, is the classic problem with automation - the unintended consequences. Sometimes the software is just too smart for it's own good.

I've had it happen with straight .jpg files, with no terminal strings.

The new interface is slick, but it didn't make me happy.

Of course, I felt fine about typing code when I wanted boldface or italics when word processing on a VAX 11/780, so maybe I'm just old.

You have to click on the line in the post where you want the picture prior to clicking on the symbol or it will put it as the first line.

I'm using Edge with win10 since they finally fixed win10 software to make my touchpad mouse work.

Prior to that I had been using chrome and firefox.
