This is certainly very different... If Olds had come out with this oai hood design, does anyone think they would be as popular as they are right now?

I for one do not but that's my opinion.....what say you?

I prefer Oldsmobile's version as well, otherwise looks like a pretty cool car.

The Mopar hood scoop doesn't look bad.

two years ago at Lansing I talked to a guy there showing his car. He was an engineer who a buddy of mine recognized as one of the guys who worked on the OAI hood. I swear he said it was originally was just one wide scoop. He said folks were not involved in following through on engineering and design, so he handed off his R&D to another group who took it a step further who then handed it off to another group. Although he was involved with the initial testing and design it was a different animal about time it was released. I'm guessing the first design might have looked like that - with different paint scheme I'm sure

Modification would have looked better if the center tunnel was all the same height. The underhood components have been equally 'modified'. What a waste of a good OAI setup. Note: the base is not an OAI base, just a 4bbl with lopped off snorkel.

One thing I really like about the 70's is the mirrors and grills.

Bamboo was NOT a rare color as the seller claims. It was a standard palate color choice for 1970 = PNT code 50

I sure if Olds had used a scoop like that they would have redesigned the hood and scoop to look and fit better. That doesn't look good to me.

Sometimes hood scoops are more for clearance than forced air induction.

I'm not sure that's a Mopar hood scoop, is it? It appears to be one of the aftermarkets, maybe from VFN.

I prefer the factory dual scoops, but this doesn't look too bad.

I think whoever did the scoop did an impressive job for sure. I like the original more, though.

The paint scheme throws the look off, might look better in a single color. No stripes.

One wide stripe like a Roadrunner maybe? I dunno. We're used to the dual set up so it definitely looks different.

Judging from the pictures, that car is worth a good aftermarket or maybe even a Thornton hood. Sometimes "less is more", and adding that scoop didn't help (IMO).

Aside from the hood its a very nice car. They spent all that effort to make the car perfect then skimped on the hood.

Well it appears the market is also telling the seller something about the car. The best bid is around 10k less than the reserve.

Watch for a new listing, or a CL in the area.

Ok I guess, fun to play around from time to time, but the factory hood just has such great lines and accent. I vote original.
