Hurst dual gate part needed 1971 442

Sheltering in place provides for much garage time, and I have never liked my pitted chrome sliding dual gate shifter ‘cover’. Any ideas as to where to find a replacement - the rest of my set up looks really good. Not sure of the part name but here is a photo, not mine

Thanks in advance to all.

No problem. There is also a rebuild kit. I ordered it for mine and Patton has done his magic on it. I will share some pics
of it after he sends it back.

Look forward to seeing yours when it’s done tru. Got my part today and already installed, looking pretty good. Thanks again for the source, Dr. shifter is the man.

Was that part on all of them or was it an option?

Does anyone know of a source for the black plastic "****' on the slide cover? Mine has a chipout and last time I looked for one (last century, probably) they were discontinued.

Kenneth, you may have to order a new slider to get one. The rebuild kit I bought had it all. The link for the slider is above.
Koda, I'm not sure what part you are talking about.

72 V code. here you are. I need to get a new burlwood insert for the top plate and console after I cut it.

I'm referencing the cover in the OP. Mine does not have it.

Still not sure what you mean. Top-plate or the slider? Do you have a pic?

Meh, for $36 I can live with what I have. Been like it is for 30 years so it's not really a priority for me.

Love the T handle tru, looks great. Fun I spent 16 bucks plus 4 shipping on the chrome slider described as having “imperfections” which it really doesn’t. I emailed the seller and he said 15 of the thousand on hand had a small barely visible flaw, which to me was worth half price - and it looks perfect to me.

The best part was installation I didn’t have to take apart the console, maybe you guys know this but I thought I’d have to - I was able to fish out the spring without detaching it from it mount and hook it to the new slider from the top 👍

And Koda, every Hurst dual gate equipped 442 I’ve seen from 1970 to 72 originally had the chrome dust slider.

I recommend the ‘flawed’ cover, it comes with the little black piece you’re asking about - for about 20 bucks it’s worth it.

The one I bought at the lesser price (from the same seller) does not have the spring, so you may need to ‘spring’ for the $36 cover that comes with the spring. Either way I think you’ll like the result

I was wrong, it has it, just didn't notice it. Now, correct shifter ball, I do need.

I see yours is missing the black ****. Those used to be available for around $4 but apparently not any more.

Yeah, it works ok without it, but you are right. Old cars are never done being improved.

I haven't worried about the one on mine because the gate is always open and the shifter on the "His" side.
