How much is gas where you live?
There is ridiculous gouging going on. Basically as an independent Coop, we have to follow Federated Coop's lead. They run our oil refinery and basically sell us the majority of our products for sale in our stores as well. We have to follow what other retailers are doing. We can't lower our prices any significant amount from the local market, or we get a phone call from Federated Coop. This is going to be a killer here, everything is far apart. We have to go to Saskatoon, 4 hours away, twice next week. Even getting mid 30's mpg Imperial with the Challenger, it is a $150+ trip.

The President has little control over fuel prices. I doubt this administration ever sat in on a boardroom discussion with major refineries. Previous administrations? I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised.
our current President is a car guy. Anyone who owns a 67 Corvette probably has a little gasoline flowing in their veins. Our previous CiC? I doubt he has every touch a gas pump at a service station.
People bitching “Open the pipeline back up!!” really should read exactly what was closed and why.
I’m old enough to vaguely remember the fuel crisis of the early 70s. While I was too young for it to have meant much to me, I remember people being able to buy fuel based on the last digits of their license plate number. I’m not seeing “No Gas!!” signs at the gas stations. I’m not seeing long lines at the gas pumps. What we are seeing is refineries racking in record profits.
I work 3rd shift. When I woke up and heard about the Ukraine war, I called my wife and told her regardless of how much fuel she had in her car, fill it up. Even though the oil leaving the ground at that moment wouldn’t be processed and ready for sale for months, the price at the gas stations immediately go up. They jump 10-20 cents at a time, and slowly trickle down a penny or so over weeks. Of course, someone has a “crisis” (probably spilled a cup of coffee on a financial report!) and the price jumps again.
It seems yo me the oil industry gees away with crap no other industry could ever pull off. Not a summer goes by without a refinery fire, refinery shutdown for maintenance, or some other thing that any other industry would have to consider “cost of doing business”. If you paid a contractor to put a roof on your house, and one of the workers dropped a bundle of shingles on your car, you would expect the contractor to make it right by repairing your car. You would be pretty pissed if the car was repaired, but the repair costs were added to your bill! Or if you went to a restaurant and ordered a steak, and the waiter brought you a hamburger, you would expect the order made right. Needless to say, you would not be happy if the steak AND hamburger were on the bill.
Record fuel prices, record oil company profits??? Coincidence?? I think not. This is corporate greed, nothing more.

like we can’t talk about other regulations that are designed to kill the aftermarket automotive industry.
your first sentence is flat out false. The Potus has 100% everything to do with it.
You have no idea what you are talking about …I won’t get into it because it’s against the law here….so I don’t want this shut down .. it’s better to burry our heads and not talk about what will kill our hobby.

We've seen gasoline prices rise, but they haven't spiked enough to change the way drivers operate their daily driven vehicles. Examples abound, jack rabbit starts from the stoplight, hard stops at the next red light in order to jockey for the lane with the least number of cars in it (so to make another jack rabbit start), all of which forces the next driver in line to do a hard stop; speed limits don't mean a thing to most drivers either, just maintain the limit and see how you fare, and notice the size of the vehicles on the roads today, some pickups are astronomical in size compared to years past, as are the tires on them, all of which do nothing to economize on fuel--shrug.

I attended the "spring" Red Neck Rumble yesterday in Lebanon, TN. Bought premium fuel for my '65 f85 at Kroger for $5.25. My high compression 4bbl 331 does not like the cheap stuff and will ping on anything less than premium (91/92). I took state road Hwy70 all the way, about 85 mi. I would have loved to have gone both days (Fri-Sat) like I usually do and seemed like I got good milage only running 55-60 mph there and back, but that would have been easily over $100 in fuel. I wish I could check actual milage but it would take for ever to top it off because it spews back violently when fueling approaches a full tank. I have made sure the vent is clear, but still gives me a fit and spews all over the gas cap holding the door open, the I wear gas fumes into the car. I just put 13 gal. or so and roll.
Little eng. has plenty enough power to climb any hill with light pressure on the accelerator, and smooth like an Olds ought to be.
I would like to get a good mpg recorded on a 55 mph tank full someday.

USD $5.85/gal here in Australia today for regular unleaded.
Diesel USD $6.10/gal.
The Federal Government dropped the excise tax on petrol couple months ago here to ease the pain but it goes back on in September.

there ya go. We’re you thinking the potus was the guy changing the signs at the stations?
here our politicians just removed some taxes for 6 months on the gas.. knocked it down quite a bit.
hmm, politicians controlling gas prices…yep, it’s all on them from beginning to end.
especially the guy at the top. If the potus has no control over the price of gas, why is he begging the Saudis to pump more oil and asking Venezuela to ship more … to lower the price right?

There is no good reason for North America NOT being self sufficient other than greed.
The best part: Venezuela can import Russian crude and sell it as their own, and no one would be none the wiser.

because he doesn’t control the price of gas.🤣🤣🤣🤣. Not one bit, it’s totally out of his control
If anything like politicians in the USA, the temporarily suspended fuel tax will come back with a vengeance.
Filled up the 442 Monday $5.19 for 93
Bonneville Tuesday $4.69 for 87
Truck yesterday $4.49 for 87- luckily they lifted the card cap, so after filling the 5 gal can and the truck, I got $140 in 1 swipe. Yay?

Anyway. Blows me away how much oil we have here in the USA. We honestly do not have to go anywhere for oil.
So Canadian Olds. What are your prices up there?
solely because the politicians have cut the tax on the price of gas.. your potus is on his way to Saudi Arabia to beg them to produce more oil, which in turn will lower the price of gas worldwide because the supply will more than meet the demand...that’s his purpose for going there.
he could pump more oil in his own country, but that’s taboo right now, he could ok more pipelines, but that’s also taboo…he could ok more onshore and offshore exploration, but that’s also taboo. He could reverse his keystone XL killing executive order he signed his first day in office, he could get back out of the Paris climate accord, he could stop listening to the eco crazies ,, etc etc etc.
i know I’ve missed quite a few other things he could do that are directly controlling the cost at the pump.. I’ll post more later
when you’ve taken everything I’ve said and disproved it….which you can’t
so start with the first one..why is he going to Saudi Arabia to beg for more oil when you have plenty under your own feet?
Todays it’s about 1.70 C per litre..another cut is planned this weekend of 7 cents per litre.
then we’ll see 1.63 or less per litre. Outside major urban centres it will be even lower. Around 1.50 to 1.53 per litre
that’s a total drop from 2.10 per litre of about 60 cents. That’s $ 4.33 per U.S. gallon
