How to inspect 1990ish Toronado VIC out of a car?

Going through my stuff in the garage I found an extra Toronado VIC I came upon in a junk wreck a decade ago. When I was driving my high mileage 89 Trofeo the touch screen and all worked fine so I never wanted to risk unplugging everything to try this one.

Now I have this decent looking little touch screen tv and have no idea if it works. It has stickers on it indicating at some time it was professionally rebuilt so just maybe it is a winner.

Any idea how I can test it? Not like there is a power wire and ground wire plug I can just hook up and I could not find what I need in the generic Haynes manual I still own.

Thanks from a forum newb who put 190,000 on an 89 Trofeo I bought with 94,000 on the dash.

Even if you can determine it is powered up up without actually plugging it in it may not view properly....ie dark screen,or something else making it non viewable

That would be unfortunate. Any ideas? The odds of my favorite auto shop ever calling me and saying they have a Toro in there with a busted one and wanna try mine are pretty slim.

your best bet is to pull your working vic out and test the one you have ...thats the only way you will know. its not a difficult task its mostly just trim removal. you just need to dc the battery before you start so as not short anything out. i have a 92 service manual i could send the RandR section if you need step by step

if you dont still have your trofeo then your screwed as to knowing if it will work

I agree with Pogo. It will be difficult to test the panel without installing it in the car. You might check local salvage yards and see if they have a Toronado you could use to test your panel.

If you do find one make sure it has a working vic. If you put a good vic in a car with a bad controller(cant remember its part name) a good vic wont work either
