Shop tells me I have the wrong hood latch support piece for my 70 Cutlass S.They say mine is for 71/72, and that is why my hood will not close properly. See attached pics.
Is there any truth to this. Searched past posts and could not decide. Picture is one that is on my car.

Yes, I agree with your shop. Here's some pictures of the 1970 and 71-72. The 1970 sticks out from under the top of the core support. The 71-72 is tucked under it. I can pull this one to sell you, but it might take a couple days as I've got some other obligations right now. Send me a PM or email if you want to discuss it. John

The latch support you have is the later model one that fits both the 70 and the 71-71 cars. The photo of the bent hood tooth says that the latch isn't the problem. It's the fact that your hood is bent. Changing the latch support isn't going to fix this. A competent body person would know that.

 

Joe, I saw the two latch holes but didn't know they made some that will fit either years. One more bit of knowledge shared!

 

It's like the 68-69 fenders that have both sets of hood hinge holes.
