Unhappy Here's one returning to mother Earth.

I was browsing CL and found an Oldsmobile:

I bet that Olds sits there until the current owner dies and then it will get sold for scrap. Sort of depressing...

For that price, I would agree. I think cutting the asking price in half would be a good start.

I’d be curious what it looks like underneath after sitting so long.

He couldn't be bothered to remove the cover so we could actually SEE the full car and interior? What good is it to show the car cover?

"If restored properly you can double or triple your investment... Remember this is a BARN FIND!"
Ok scooter Ill remember that...LMFAO! The word Rare is missing.

Triple your investment if you could purchase it for 2 grand to include shipping.

Might be a 4-6K car cleaned up running without a crusty chassis. That ain't no Arizona car. 2-3 grand just to get it roadworthy and clean out the rat infestation.

Barn find is the new catchphrase to take the place of tribute/recreation/turd sandwich.

At $15.5K plus restoration cost, I don't see anyone actually being able to double the investment cost no less triple it as stated in the ad... BUT, then again, there may be someone out there who just has to have it for some personal/family/history type rational reasoning...

It would be hard to get $15K for that car in the shape it was 20 years ago. Now that it has been covered in dust and cat feces for 20 years...

I like it when he says he knows the price of these old cars. He might know the prices but he sure as hell isn't paying any attention to them. He is able to tell his wife it is for sale and get her off his case. It would be a $2500-$3000 car at best.

$2500, maybe $3k on a good day. I realize the wheels could skyrocket the value, especially after restoration. I think he got lost in upside down world, it would likely be worth 1/2 to 1/3 the resto expense and that’s with a handy new owner who can do a lot themself.

Yup, this ad reads as, "Wife hates looking at it, I have no plans on selling it. "
Yes dear, I posted a for sale ad.

So he wants $15,500 for the car and you would spend minimum $30,000 to do a restoration. So you have $45,500 and he says you can double or triple you investment. Somehow I am thinking this car is not going to sell for $91,000 or $136,500 or even $45,500.

Ain't it the truth. Thanks for posting the additional pics no1oldsfan.

BTW, does anyone know if those are Buick wheels or just aftermarket Keystone Classics? If fully restored they would make that Delta 88 look bad@$$!

I’ll never understand people like this. They have had the car for 20 years and done NOTHING with it. I’m guessing it was a very nice clean car when it was parked. His wife hates looking at it (never heard that story before!&#128580 she wants him to sell it. So to please her, he posts an ad with a ridiculous price knowing it won’t sell.

I can’t speak for everyone, but my wife could not care any less what I have around the house as long as it’s not an eyesore or in her way. If I had a barn or storage area like in the ad, I can almost guarantee my wife wouldn’t have a clue what was in it. And if it was an eyesore, I’d either be single, or the car wouldn’t be in that state of disrepair, or would have been sold long ago.

The only thing I can figure is some people just get a thrill from having things other people want. There are many desirable cars that have been parked around here for decades that people refuse to do anything with, refuse to sell (“I’m going to restore it some day”) and let it rot and deteriorate until there in nothing left. Or the hoarder dies and the family scraps it, for the huge profit of maybe 100 bucks.
