Hello and What Was that BJ 442?

First, hello. I'm new here but not new to Olds. I grew up in Rochester NY where by Dad was an Olds salesman for thirty years at several dealerships. He was also in charge of the 442 club at his final dealer, Milbury Olds.

The first 442 I rode in was a '64, Police Apprehender Pkg. I was 15 and that was that...Olds fan for life. I drag raced a '64 Cutlass (not the 442) quite successfully for a couple of years and then bought a '71 Cutlass with the W-25 option and drove it until marriage in '75.

Still jonesing for another 442 someday. Especially a '66 W30 or a '69 Hurst.

Now, just saw a 442 auctioned off on Barrett-Jackson. The color was Regency Rose. With the black hood scoops I found it stunning. Different but just beautiful. I've never seen this color, anyone familiar with it. Or anyone here buy that car? If you happen to be recording BJ, it was at 3:54 Eastern.

Thanks guys, hope to contribute from time to time.

Steve

I did see that car. At $30k it seemed like a solid deal.

I thought so as well, assuming it was as clean and original as it appeared. I've seen other W30s go for a LOT more on B-J. Maybe the color turned off some people but I thought it was unique and pleasing. Not as a repaint, but as an OEM color.

That wasn't a W-30.

You are correct. Saw the hood and just assumed.

Sadly, there's not a good representation of Olds muscle at this BJ auction. I checked the calendar for tomorrow and Sunday and there wasn't much at all.

I did not see that car on B-J but I found a 70 442 for sale on line a year ago or so. I had never seen that color before and I found it absolutely stunning it also had the black on the hood, I really like that color combo I would love to have one some day

Yep, that's the one. And they drove it on a gravel road?! Wasn't there a great Haggerty Insurance ad based on that a couple of years ago? I loved it, my wife did not.

Hello Steve Moore,

I see that your dad was with Milbury Olds in Rochester, NY years ago. I have an old stock car that was sponsored by Milbury Olds years ago and Im trying to learn more about the driver, "Skipp", what was Skipp's last name, where the car was raced, what years it was raced, who owned it. who owned it before that person, who owned it after that person, does anyone have photos of the car in racing colors and any other history of this stock car. Who owned Milbury Olds at this time? Is there anyone else you might think of that could provide more info about the stock car? My email address is speedway2742@gmail.com Thanks for any help.
