Heater Core - Aluminum vs. Copper?

Need to replace the heater core on my 60 Olds. Installed a copper one that was remanufactured four years ago and it's failed twice now -- one of the end caps keep splitting. I'm thinking of going with a new one now but selection is almost all aluminum. Has anyone had any experience with the aluminum cores? Any advise?

The only experience I have is if you don't have a restrictor in the inlet line (a factory heater valve, hose nipple with reduced size hole, etc) then there is too much flow through the heater core and it can rupture.

Thanks ... mine does so I'm covered on that end. I think I got a bad remanufactured core four years ago and it's time to stop patching this one. Got a line on a copper one in Texas and it's on the way.

Regards,
Mark
