Ok, I've been doing some browsing and I found something puzzling. What determined the grill for the Oldsmobile 88 in the middle of the 90s?
Some had a cool "Oldsmobile egg-crate" grill like this one:

Others had a boring "imitation Chevy" grill like this one:

Plus, if you look at the pictures from the first link you can see that there is a transmission tunnel in the floor of the car. Why is the transmission tunnel there when all of the GM H bodies were FWD? Just wondering...

The Cat, exhaust pipe and resonator go down the "trans tunnel" If you see one from under the car you would see the tunnel is way to small for any actual transmission.
As far as the grill I don't know but assume difference was a trim level thing.

I didn't know the tunnel was for the exhaust and catalytic converter. Thanks for sharing.
