Fuel inlet threads on a Qjet

Can the fuel inlet threads be repaired on a Q jet Carb?
Cost?
What is involved?
Anyone had this done?
Does it de-value the carb?

Thanks
Bernhard

best way is a helicoil, not very hard but kind of pricey if you only do it once. there are oversized fittings available and ive seen/used one that has an o ring that worked, but i didnt trust it very long. check with a reputable parts place ,napa or car quest they may be able to heli coil it for you.

Here's a kit: $190.

The question is: How much will someone charge to do this for you?
If their charge is around the cost of the kit, might as well get the kit, and you'll be able to do more carbs in the future for "free" if you ever need to.

If this is about the 69 carb on ebay? For that price, keep on looking - what's being sold is just a core and IMO is way overpriced.

X2... $80 from Sparky's. I had it done and the new threads are stronger than the original threads ever were. Should not have any affect on value othere than being more desirable fixed than bad.

Woudn't happen to be a 7040258 that you want to sell.... I need one.

A had one done by a carb shop in California- yep that Carb shop. They did it crooked! wouldn't seal. I sent it back and got it back still crooked after $60.00 to and from shipping. So be carefull who you have do it. If it's crooked it won't seal because it seals to a gasket on the back side of the filter housing. I had a lot of money in a rebuild for this carb, so I used seal all on the threads and it worked for a while- Since then I got another carb.
