Rochester Fuel Inlet Fitting - need help

Where can I find a fuel inlet fitting for a stock Rochester carburetor? I have what should be the stock carb for a 68 Toronado. It is very clean and tight and the car runs very well at idle and on the road. My problem is the fuel inlet fitting leaks gasoline onto the intake manifold. Someone had replaced the original fitting with an aftermarket "O-ring" fitting and it doesn't fit very well. The inlet threads look to be in fairly good condition and the inlet is not cracked. From what I can measure the inlet diameter is somewhere around 0.865" measured (using very light contact pressure) with a dial caliper. I've looked at the auto parts store and they have a "repair" fitting with self-tapping threads but diameter is 1.00" which is way too big. I've talked to a local shop with lots of spare carburetor parts and everything they had was either too big or too small....
The carb serial number is 7028252 RN. If anyone can provide a source for this inlet fitting it would be greatly appreciated! I have searched for severel weeks and am just about ready to bore the thing smooth and J/B weld one of the larger fitting in place permanently!! Thanks all

Have you tried a hardware store? They might have a fitting that will work.

From what I gather, there about three different fuel inlet sizes for QJ. The 68 toro carbs are kinda odd too....so...I think you are looking for 7/8 or 5/8 fitting with either 14 or 18 threads per inch. Just not sure.

The one at the parts store you found is the most popular size, 1" by 20 threads. These should NOT be npt threads, but SAE or to be a little more confusing, its possible an AN fitting could work, but just not sure.

I would suggest you keep looking and don't give up. I would try to get you in contact with a couple of people on the ROP board-Shurkey or Octania but the server is just too dang slow right now, as I think they both probably have an inlet for you.

Olds64 and Don71 - sounds like you were both zeroing in on the answer.....I got a separate reply from Sparky at sparkyscarbs.com. He identified the fitting as a "7/8-20 long". This meaning 7/8" with SAE 20 threads and having the external gasket/seal. He sent me to Carburetors Unlimited for the fitting and I plan to call them tomorrow morning for availability (www.carburetion.com). Thanks again!
