About 5 years ago I purchased a 1970 Olds 98 four door hardtop and two 1970 Olds 98 convertibles. All in project/parts car condition. My intent was to use the 4 door as parts to help put the convertibles together. I'm always short on space so a buddy let me store the convertibles back of his place. I figured a few months until I had room to bring them home. Well, so much for best laid plans! I brought one home last month and just brought the other one home today. This afternoon I started crawling over them to see what kind of shape they were in. A couple fun finds to share with the group, first this was behind the front license plate on the 4 door.
An Oldsmobile dealership, ... UY MARTIN then under that ...LAND HILLS The car has the three nipple charcoal canister and the line running to the air cleaner snorkel, so I suspect it was sold new in California.
Then when I opened the glove box of one of the convertibles I found an owners manual and a set of new Oregon license plates with 1989 stickers on them. This car is missing a front bumper but has a California license plate on the rear bumper. Someone was optimistic they'd be driving this in the late 1980's. It appears all three cars have been off the road since the 1980's. Also it looks like the DMV receipt is between the license plates, but the plastic sleeve has shrunk and wouldn't easily let me pull it out.
I found a bat in the trunk of my 96 98 that I still have. There was also a Korn CD in the trunk that I quickly got rid of since I don't care for that music.
