Fan rubbing on lower end of shroud
Fan rubbing on lower end of shroud
I have a 65 442 with factory a/c. Car is all stock. I’m finally getting the car put together and on start up the fan is rubbing on the lower end of the fan shroud. Oiriginal radiator. It looks like the shroud is not centered in the shroud. Radiator is sitting correctly in the core support. The whole front clip was removed off the car. Could the core support need further adjustment to illiminate any rubbing. I know I have to have everything loose when I align the fenders. Am I on the right track? Any advice?
(Could the core support need further adjustment to illiminate any rubbing.)......I would say most likely,
Do you have a factory assembly manual? and the CSM? If not it would be best to have these. Chances are you have the core support shimmed too high, Have you changed your motor mounts?.........Do you have the right motor mounts?

Thanks for your reply’s. No shims were installed in the core support. Original motor mounts. Shroud only mounts in one location. I used a trans mount from a automatic trans. Car is now 4 sp. Is there a difference between the two mounts?
Did you change out the core support rubber bushings? Are they in the correct sequence? Usually, the shrouds hook on the bottom on the lower cross bar, and if thats too high, the shroud will be too. Did you change the core support too??? ws
There was no problem with the fan rubbing prior to disassembly. So I don't think it could be the motor mounts. I have never heard of changing the mounts every 4 years. I'm thinking it could be the core support or rubber bushings under the radiator.
