electrical problem, please HELP!

So today i put on a new Edlebrock intake and a Quick Fuel carb. In the process of getting things hooked back up the Alternator wire grounded out on the intake briefly. So now my previously working fuel gauge is pegged all the way on full, and the Gear Vendors OD is not working. This was only at the end of all day working on it, so i was too tired to search for the problem. I know theres a fuse for the GV OD, not sure on the fuel sender. Any ideas that might help? Could it have fried the sending unit? Everything else works, lights, radio. The AMP meter shows to be charging.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Steve

It probably blew both fuses. Don't know why the entire circuit wouldn't blow fuses if you had a direct short to ground with 12 volts. Check all of the fusible links also.

I always disconnect the NEG battery cable before doing any work that might involve the electrical system..

Generally if the fuel gauge goes pegs full its getting power but missing the signal from the sending unit. With the key on grounding the sending unit wire should make the fuel gauge go to E.
