Drum To Disc Brake Conversion

Drum To Disc Brake Conversion

Hello i have drum brakes on my 72 cutlass with a power brake booster do i still need to change the proportioning valve and booster

Yes you will need a disc/drum proportioning valve if you are doing front disc/rear drum. You should also get a bigger master cylinder for disc brakes.

Ok I have drums on the front. What will happen if I dont change the proportioning valve. Is it really worth changing them over to disc. Just asking.

Here is a link that explains everything.

To me it was worth it. I like to have the stopping power of disc brakes. Some may argue that there was not much difference, I think disc brakes are big improvement over drums. JMO.

The rears grab a little,you may not notice it unless on gravel.I put front discs from a monte on a 68 chevelle wagon nothing else.Stopping power is so much better.
