Door Handle Blues
GRRRRR......Who would've thought that my beautiful exterior door handles off the 65 f-85 4 door don't fit the doors on my 442 ?
Oh well, at least I'm getting the locks changed to match the ignition key.
....even cut the pin to just the right length !!

Dave, they're like that to 1972... the same look but different release mechanism. Did you look to see if that can be changed? I've not taken the time to investigate it, but if the outsides are really nice maybe you can swap over the guts?

Actually, not only are the release mechanisms different, they even sit at a different angle on the door. Didn't notice until I had the 4 door handle installed, but they angle up toward the outside, so rain would run toward the car. It's quite noticeable. They sit level on the doors of the 4 door. When I looked closely, the 2 door handles have a slightly sharper angle on them, which causes them to sit level on the 442. All the door handles from the 65 f-85 4 door are like that. Now I have 4 really decent handles for a 4 door (one has cut pin, so it's garbage), maybe even a wagon, that I can't use. Maybe I'll put them in the parts section today for $10 each. Who knows? Don't like to throw them out. I was quite prepared to throw out my pitted 442 handle, but it would seem it has value !!
